Suthep slams fugitive Arisman for online remarks

BANGKOK, 15 March 2011 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs Suthep Thaugsuban has lambasted terrorism suspect Arisman Pongruangrong for his statement that he will surrender only after the House dissolution.

Mr Arisman, fugitive core leader of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) charged for terrorism, recently made an appearance on YouTube to declare that he would not turn himself in unless the Prime Minister had dissolved the House and scheduled a date for the general election. Such condition was proposed by the suspect although many of his close aides, including Mr Suporn Atthawong, had already reported to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI).

As a response, Mr Suthep lashed out at Mr Arisman, emphasizing that he had neither power to bargain nor privilege above other suspects. However, the Deputy Prime Minister assured the public that the general election would take place shortly after the House dissolution in the first week of May as promised by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.

In regard to the political alliance between the coalition Bhumjaithai and Chart Thai Pattana Parties, Mr Suthep perceived it as a normal occurrence among medium-sized parties ahead of an election. He expressed no worries over a possible shift in political power.

So k. Arisman will not come to the March 26th sing-along as k. Jatuporn told us o-so-many-days ago :ermm:

Interesting.

Did Suthep slam Arisman for his print media remarks? They seem a great deal more...'slammable'.

Mr Arisman believes that even though the people might not have weapons, they will not lose as they will fight systematically with equipment, information and funding through the internet and other media to tell the world about the evil of the government and the traditional elite. There is also another faction tasked to fight covertly with every means against those that serve the elite, including biased media, ministers, soldiers, police, civil servants, independent organisations and judges. If necessary, these people must be eliminated. Any red shirt that has a chance and is near an intended target will be tasked to do the job.

Calling for the elimination of journalists, ministers, soldiers, police, government employees, judges and independent organisations' employees - for the 'crime' of supporting the King and/or democratic government...seems a bit beyond the pale.

But sure, refusing to surrender unless Parliament was dissolved - that's also really super bad stuff also.

I'm not sure about Suthep. He seems...shifty, or something. That whole little jaunt meeting Thaksin and seeking reconciliation overseas, on a little independent, non-sanctioned mission...hmm.

Amazing..........lost for words how a sane person can utter words like eliminate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...This is what happens when power goes to your head---when this happens in my book -you have to go--walk away-get out.

If it is, I'm a moron *blush*

Edit: Sigh. Moron confirmed.

Deputy Prime Minister Sanan

Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs Suthep

I blame dyslexia. And inherent moronic residual attributes. Although the media continually referring to them both as "Deputy Prime Minister" probably doesn't help...

I have a lot more time for Suthep now lol. So it's Sanan who isn't a team player. Suthep seems to be very much behind the government he is part of.

When I read "Mister" Arisman's interesting views printed in a mainstream daily late last year, I admit I purchased a one-way plane ticket on impulse. I also ranted a full half page in the Comments section of the article on the afore-non-mentioned daily's website, outlining my opinions on whether or not it was appropriate for Thailand's 2nd largest English-language newspaper to be publishing such comments as "news", and in such a deferential / respectful tone.

As a result, I believe I have been banned indefinitely from commenting on the website or the online newspaper's articles. Clearly my views were considered invalid, in ways "Mister" Arisman's were not.

Looked on YouTube for the video mentioned in the OP, but no success.

I'm also wondering where this YouTube video is. You'd think a news article talking about a YouTube video would show it on the web page or at least provide a link to it.

Is it forbidden for news articles to contain links to internet web pages? There is so much content in the form of images and video out there these days though it seems news articles seem only to contain the occasional single image to accompany the article.

This coward will never turn himself in unless there is a guarantee he won't even spend a day in jail.

This was the closest match:

I don't think he could make it through another episode like this ... looks like he almost had a stroke during this one.

The atrongest case for terrorism and inciting people to riot is against Arisaman. I don't think he'll come back unless PTP forms the next coalition.

I think the man that held the rope that lowered him down did have one. That's some significant tonnage.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it Arisman that is also known as the Isaan Rambo from his acting days? If this is true then I have to assume this means he was an action star playing the tough guy roles. In the US where we'd like to think people are more media savvy Arnold Swartzenhager got elected much on his tough guy film image. Can you imagine how this image would be destroyed with videos like this and running away from authorities when the rest of his group had the guts to turn themselves in and didn't act like the biggest tough guy of them all.

I just cannot see this guy ever rehabilitating his image with the red brigade.

But again, correct me if I am wrong ... I forget who was a popular Thai singer vs. actor in Red Leadership or if it was Arisman who was both.

To clarify...

Issan Rambo is Red Shirt Leader Suporn Atthawong, who is the spitting image of a trim, muscular Slyvester Stallone during his heyday as Rambo:

Red Shirt Leader Arisaman is most famous in the past as a sweet mouth love song singer and oh so hansum young man:

Wasn't Suthep the person that was embroiled in the land scandal under mister "Clean" Chuan? Giving land destined for the poor to rich corporations and his family? Was Chuan not the person who went for a a house dissolution instead of impeaching mister Suthep? Is Suthep not the man behind the palm oil price rise, the hoarding and the import from Malaysia which makes him and the same companies who received land from him billions of baht which actually belongs to the poor. Mister Suthep should be he very last one slamming Arisaman. Suthep is a low life equal to Khadaffi, Ceausecu or kim Il Jong. Yes mister Suthep you and your government cannot be trusted. Your judiciary is corrupted till the bone and you was the man with blood on his hands durin the red shirt crakcdowns, from which you as the head of DSI distorted the facts even though Reuters had the real findings.

Arisaman would be wise to surrender while the deal is still on the table, otherwise he might be another of those unfortunates who Suthep will say 'ran into the bullets'

I don't think that Arisman will return until Thaksin is able to return. He knows that he must surely get the death sentence or life imprisonment, if he's lucky. I don't think that the next government will include Peua Thai, so he'll have to live abroad with a salary from Thaksin.

Someone so filled with hatred and anger as Arisman will surely become ill often and more and more unhappy, indeed miserable. His negative vibration will attract more and more into his life that he doesn't like or want. This will be his "wane gum". The same goes for Thaksin.

You should share some of your apparently private informative insight with the Pheu Thai Party, because they are looking pretty desperate in their feeble censure debate attacks on Suthep et al.

Yes, but partial marks for political astuteness can be awarded for detecting the pattern that Sanan and Suthep begin with the same letter in English. LOL

The other connection between the two is deeper and I doubt that you detected it. Both have been Democrat Secretary Generals which is a key position in the Democrat Party. The SG's role is to be a worldly wise low life character who acts as a fixer so that the party leader (Chuan or Abhisit) can maintain a squeaky clean image. A key function, while in government is to act as liaison officer with coalition partners, in other words divide up the corruption spoils. So, of course, both Suthep and Sanan have gangsterish backgrounds as that is a key qualification for the job and it is not possible for a Thai political party to function effectively without such characters. Yes, Suthep was the guy who brought down the first Chuan government due to land corruption scandals. However, the guy who lead the charge against him and dug up much of the damning evidence was Newin Chidchorp who is now a key ally. Newin was rewarded with a deputy finance minister's portfolio and the full details of the pillage of Bangkok Bank of Commerce during that period have never been revealed or followed up on. CEO Krirkiatt is still out on bail appealing his sentence and no Thai has served a day in prison, while most of those involved are being respectfully waied at cocktail parties and fashion shows. One foreigner is rotting in prison for it on remand but who cares about them?

Correct ... as is standard in Thai politics ...

The person that visited Thaksin in Norway was someone whose name begins with the letter 'S'.

Unfortunately, 'Mr. S" is untouchable - together with the rest of the coalition, as proved by the dismissed court cases on political funding.

Using snipers against demonstrators and journalists, military dictatorship, world record internet censorship etc. is obviously preferable to building some confidence in the democratic system.

5 years after Thaksin was removed by the generals, the poor are just as poor, the rich are even richer, the police is still as corrupt and incompetent as ever and the the same goes for the politicians.

Has there been any progress since 1932? Has there been any progress since 2006?

I would think anyone who reads the demands of this cowardly criminal on the run, would realise, as already retorted by Suthep, he is in neither a position or has any ability to make any demands whatsoever! In fact saying he will only surrender once the house is dissolved is simply a ploy to say he won his demand when the house does dissolve. What a croc. But these words as quoted above is a clear admission this man is a terrorist and inciting to riot, maim and kill, kinda puts the facts in perspective as now any Red Shirt is being empowered to do his bidding. Time to roll in the army and do away with Red, Yellow and street protests. Set up the Sate of Emergency again and give the orders of apprehension or removal of this coward on the run. If you need to see what the word assesses Thailand's culpability in this sort of terrorism, check out Bomb Threat on this address - we rate 100% likelihood. Good one Thailand. http://www.globalincidentmap.com/predictions.php ph34r.gif

You have an ignore button like everybody else. It is between your ears and says "Good Judgment" on it instead on Ignore. What none of the Thai political parties have. A little Good Judgment could and would go a long way here in Thailand.
