Featured Replies

Hi

I am british, but my gf is Indonesian and living with me now in Bangkok. I am looking for some private language lessons for her. Need someone that can speak fluent Indonesian and teach her Thai (does not know any) and improve her English (which is quite good already)

Anyone on here able to help ?

Thanks

Why the need to be able to speak Indonesian?

Why not put her into classes at AUA, they are cheap and she can practice with lots of Thais, her English may well improve too.

The best way to learn Thai, in my experience is to hang around those that don't speak your language.

There are crap teachers out there. I hired a couple to teach farang at my work.

One kept going on about her Thai degree from Chiang Mai and the other kept going on about how she was really American :o There are lots of foreigners out there getting Thai lessons from English speaking teachers and learning bugger all, but improving the Thai teachers English. Mmm mmaybe that's how I learnt Thai :D

Why on earth do you need to learn Thai at a school, I never did.

You, or she is in thailnad for <deleted>'s sake. get her to go down the market and try and buy a bunch of bananas. Socialising is the best way. Then buy her the kiddies writing books and a dictionary.

Up to you if you want to throw your money away. I doubt if you can find an Indonesian speaking, Thai teacher, especially on this forum.

As she is Indonesian. Her english is "ok" - but not sure good enough to be able to learn Thai as a english speaking person.

AUA ? Meeting locals etc when I am working sounds like a good thing. At the moment she is sitting around, shopping :-) etc ... hence why i thought about the language thing. She has been learning chinese for a while and seems to have a thing for langauges.

Sounds like you were burned a little :-(

When it comes to learning something new, I personally need to be trapped in a classroom anyway from distractions. Langauges are something I do not pick up well, learn the basics - but thats about it. I know some people can pick up a book and learn anyway, but not the best way for everyone.

Thanks for your comments though.

Go to AUA on Rajdamri mate. She can hang around all day chatting to students and teachers. They are usually not so rich so will save your wallet.
