One of the most popular headphones being sold in the USA nowadays is the Dr Dre Monster Beats Headphones:

Studio headphones- USD $300

Solo HD headphones- USD $230

Solo headphones- USD $200

Imagine my surprise when I went to the 4th floor at MBK and found numerous shops/counters selling these headphones, i inspected all 3 models closely and even listen to some sample music which sounded absolutely amazing, when I asked for the selling price I was quoted the following:

Studio headphones- THB 3600

Solo HD headphones- THB 3800

Sol headphones- THB 3200

When converting using an exchange rate of 1 USD = 31 THB, the local prices were over $100 lower than the US retail prices.

Is this too good to be true? Has anyone purchases these locally, are these authentic or fake replicas?

However, I picked up my monster turbines for around 29usd last year during the monster friends and family sale online which is done after the christmas period every year. Most of the headphones go for 70-80% off so look out for that

Most likely fake, electronics are generally around 25% more expensive in Thailand than in the USA.

I have a friend at work who bought them from MBK after returning from the states for Christmas, and he grabbed them because of the price difference as well. They're awesome, and he still hasn't had a problem. I was thinking of picking up a pair myself!

Google Dr Dre chinese copy and you can find out the approximate selling prices for the various Chinese copies.

Hey guys thx for the replies. I wouldn't mind purchasing them as long as the sound quality is OK and they don't fall apart on me in the next couple of months. After all Monster Beats and Dr Dre are rich enough and I'd rather not put more money in their pockets. The mark up on their products don't justify such a high cost when compared to other similar headphones.

As we don't condone the discussion of clones, knock offs etc. on Thai Visa I am closing this topic.
