The synoptic weather chart at 7am today.

PHUKET: -- The Meteorological Department (MET) has issued a storm warning for Phuket and the entire southern region for the weekend and through until Tuesday.

An “intense” high pressure system covering most of Thailand will bring torrential rain with isolated heavy rainfall across the south, according the warning issued at 10am today.

Unusually heavy, wind-driven waves are expected in both the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.

People in the risk area should beware of flooding conditions today through Tuesday.

Moderate wind-waves are likely in the Andaman Sea, where shipping should proceed with caution.

By the way, very impressive rainfall during the last 2 days in Nakhonsi Thamarat, about 500 mm of rain. Very uncommon for March, it is rare even during the north-eastern monsoon. This amount of rainfall brings destructive floods and landslides in hilly areas.

Sawdee Krap boys and girls, this is your on the scene weather boy reporting live from Patong, Phuket, Thailand. Approximately 45 minutes ago, this reporter was witness to a deluge from the heavens that would have floated the boat of the most jaded of residents. laugh.gif

It wasn't so bad this afternoon, as it was drizzle all day, but she who has a temper let loose on me that she was trapped at the university in phuket town from 6 pm until 7 pm because of the intensity of the showers. I have been advised that not only am I cheap that I do not love someone because I didn't buy Miss Thang a new automobile and have forced said angry Thai to ride a motorbike. Use a taxi I suggested. There are none you idiot was the response. Ooops. I am in even more deep sh*t then when I forgot someone's birthday. I am now enduring the scorn that may result in there being an article in the Pookie Gazette about a foreign fat guy flung from his balcony by an irate person upset because a hairdo was ruined. At this hour I am awaiting the Queen of pout's arrival which may be delayed because of impending fierce showers. This hasn't been a good week here. Overcast and rainy all the time. Let's just say, that if I manage to get through this without more abuse and perhaps a plate over the head, it will be because the weather cleared. laugh.gif

@Geriatric kid - it must be love, lol. I'll watch out for falling fat guys.

Plenty of rain this Saturday night seems to be keeping the noisier Tuk Tuks away from my street due to less tourists being out on the town. Could not be happier to trade 1am doof doof music for the pitter patter of the rain outside. I hope the report is right and it keeps deluging 'til Tuesday.

Love the rain :)

As a tourist here (Karon Phuket) this is turning out to be a memorably crap holiday. I could drive away back to sunny Issaan tomorrow but suspect that flooding en route might be an issue.

[My complaints are minor against those who are losing lives and property around Southern Thailand as I write.]

Last night's sleeping arrangements negotiated after much back & forth;

Me: Boxers and agreement that AC would remain at 25C

Disguised Occupant: Blouse, pants, fluffy big towel wrap, blanket, sheet, additional blanket.

This morning I made the mistake of wishing someone a safe drive to work on the motorbike and receiving the glare of doom in return. Bah, it's bad enough I have to hear the alarm at 6 am. Stood on the balcony and saw a sheet of rain. I am waiting for a landslide here as I look at the development on the hill right up from behind Jungceylon.

I was singing Nothing Could be Finer than to be in Issan to myself as I puttered about. I bet all the people that crack jokes about Issan are wishing they were there right now. Warm dry and comfortable. I wish I was.

@geriatric - maybe you can use the big slingshot thing to get away from the landslide?

The roads are safe enough now - even the one behind Jungceylon now they've filled it in a bit. What's her problem with the current bike?

PS 25 degrees is a bit chilly, I leave it at about 27.5 most of the time.
