Has Anyone Tried Expatshield.Com

Featured Replies

Like the sound of this Expatshield but there's not a version for Mac, anything similar (and free) out there that anyone can recommend?

I don't know about Apple stuff but a quick Google search found this. It doesn't give you a UK IP address though, but a US.

They also have free versions for Win7, WinXP, Android and other btw.

It doesn't break any speed records though

Thanks for the reply, Phil. I still cannot connect to any of the three websites. Is it possible that TOT have blocked them? FYI I asked a mate to try to connect from his laptop earlier today in an adjacent condo using TOT and he couldn't . Message coming up now is "connection timed out".

I tried all 3, and 2 of them came up with a connection error at first attempt. I reloaded the pages and then they came up ok. I think there may be a routing problem to wherever they are located. When something is explicitly blocked you usually get a message in Thai.

Can I do anything to correct the problem?

Nothing I can think off, other than get another ISP perhaps.

Or as a work around, use a different VPN service. I suggested an alternative in post #34, you could give that a shot.

Works a treat.

Has anyone been able to watch the BBC iPlayer via something like WDTV Live? (if this is possible at all).

If I could watch the output on my TV rather that a PC then I'd be really happy...

OK, now how do you get rid of all the ads this brings with it??

Our sponsor StrongVPS offer a VPN solution without ads.

tried the forum sponsor and to be honest what a waste of money.. SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

Just an opinion

The best way to stream major video content in Thailand. Far Far faster than any VPN as no 3rd party server - Stream is direct to your computer.

The list of compatible devices is also out of date for example Hulu Plus also works on ipad.

Expatshield cant get me into Facebook here in China... homepage is ok, but no further. Suggestions?

Not sure what you mean by slow. I use StrongVPN with no problems. You have many server locations to choose from and their tutorial says to find the fastest one for your purposes. They even have a speed test button next to the server location to check it. Too many variables involved to declare the service itself is slow - ISP, routing, etc.
