Does anyone know where to get seat covers for 2 door WT and the approx cost?

I'm in Pattaya.

Thanks.

Hi JaiLai, I'm sorry I don't know any local places, but if you're after covers in a 'Wildtrak' style then one place that supply them is "Master M Cover" in Bangkok, who deliver them. Here is their website with contact details: http://www.carseatthai.com/ There are some WT pics on their FB page too.

Ones pictured above were 6,500 Baht, for a 4 door XLT.

Thanks for that, i'll give them a call, no response from website.
Looks nice but what material is that? I reckon plastic would get hot as all buggery parked in the sun not to mention the Betty Swallocks on long drives?

Well it has been 13 days since I left my Ranger at Ford Pattaya and all they have done is a compression test on the engine, #2 cylinder has no compression... nothing else has been done and no report has been compiled and sent to ford yet.

At this rate I hope to have my Ranger back sometime hopefully mid 2016..............................................

About the same time as those who ordered a 3.2 will get delivery... cheesy.gif

Well no report from Ford yet.

Last communication was yesterday saying it was low in compression on #2 cylinder with the foot note saying they will start today to pull apart the vehicle starting with the intercooler to look for water.

Surprisingly today I recieve pictures of my engine pulled to pieces on a bench that tell me #2 cylinder is shy off TDC by 4.2mm compared to the other 3 cylinders.

Cylinders #1,#3 and #4 have a healthy 320psi on the compression test with #2 @ 180psi.

Hydrolock appears to be the issue resulting in a bent conrod (my assumption).

Had a call from Ford asking my insurance details (4 times nows via email and this one via phone call) which I politely told them to sling it as I want a full report as to what the issue is (I assume bent conrod) and why/how it has occurred (obviously water related) as the air filter box was void of water ingress so the water has gotten into the intake stream via another entry.

I doubt they will give me an accurate report.

Toyota V8 is looking good right about now as it would be a cheaper conversion than a replacement diesel engine.

Anyone happen to know what the maximum turbo boost pressure is on the 2.2L engine?

Greater than 30psi / 2 Bar?

Thanks in advance.

It is not greater than 2 bar, it is 5 to 6 psi below 2 bar.

Confirmed, Ford are refusing my warranty claim, they also refuse to tell me how the water got into the engine given the low depth nor will they let me have a copy of the report that they based their decision on.

Things like this make my blood boil in Thailand. We love the carefree life but get screwed by poor consumer protection. The banks are worst example. Well then it must have been an accident, time for 1srt insurance!

What a disgusting way to treat customers. I say we have an official Thai Visa boycott of all Ford products in protest 1zgarz5.gif

What's your Insurer got to say about that?

Must be an insurance claim now, surely?

Interesting approach. If an issue was verified with design, you can guess to what issues Ford would expose itself in developed markets, such as Australia...

Hence, their choice is to stonewall and try to weather the storm. Anybody been to the Australian Ranger forums to spread the news? biggrin.png

Don't just accept the word from the dealer. I would elevate this as far up the Ford chain as possible. In my past experience with Ford here I had no satisfaction with the dealer but when persisting through Ford hierarchy finally got what I wanted, which was the actual replacement of the car that they had sold us.

Sadly it is the dealers role to fob off as many warranty claims as possible, but persist with Ford generally and I would think that you will get somewhere.

So what do you do to get water in the engine?

Spoonman works for one of Ford's largest fleet/wholesale customers in TH. Hard to imagine he hasn't already got this issue at least some way up the corporate ladder...

Fair enough, I am sure he is well on the way then. I ended up having to go to the regional level to get my issues resolved.

Not sure how to broach thew subject with the insurance company as it was not an accident and Iam sure if I call them and say

"Hi Ya guys, a few weeks back I drove through some shallow water and killed my engine. I did not bother to inform you at the time as it should have been covered under warranty as the the water level was well within the ford spec wading depth, as it turns out Ford have told me to go <deleted> myself they want nothing to do with warranty.

Ok with you guys to pay for the new engine, its only Bt.126,000".

Reckon they might tell me to go <deleted> myself as well.

This denial came from well above the dealer level.

I am sure there is an exclusion clause in your insurance policy for water damages or reckless driving of the sort that would cover driving through water! :D

I was driving down the highway and hit a big puddle and the engine died. The puddle came out of nowhere and I almost crashed. After the accident I took the truck to ford but they said it was water damage from the accident.

Been reading today the India car forums on the new Ford Ecosport. Wow, some pretty bad horror stories about the Ford dealers in India and how they are screwing everyone on this super hot new Ford. Waiting times are one year plus, and everyone is complaining that Ford has been hyping the crap out of this, and everyone wants one, now they don't have any to deliver. I hope we don't see this in Thailand, but Ford and its dealer network there at least look not too good.

Refusing this warranty claim here is total B.S.

The point here with Ford Thailand is that they are denying the claim as the engine was damaged by water which the level off was well below their claims that it can wade to a depth of 800mm and no matter how I spin it to the insurance company Iam sure they will also be asking the same question.

On the flip side of all of this is as now they have denied the claim each and every time I take the vehicle into them for what ever reason they will simply say it is due to when the vehicle was flooded.

Flooded is also a point as if it goes through the insurance Iam sure it will be documented as a flood repaired vehicle.......either way Iam fcuked.

The amusing side to all this though that Ford themselves own more of the vehicle than I do................ what is the likely repercussions if I tell em to stick the vehicle and their finance up their proverbial ?

Another with the insurance I just thought of, the current policy is due for renewal in 3 weeks........... ya reckon they will be happy with a Bt.126,000 claim or tell me to go <deleted> myself and retract the renewal offer.

Sounds like what ford did with the ranger here, particularly the 3.2 !! Is i any wonder they hold such a small market share here? Thais aren't stupid and can't be arsed with all this nonsense. hence they just stick with T&H.....

What I don't understand is: how can water enter the engine if not from the air-filter?

The different u-tube videos from the Ranger launch in 2012 or was it 11? shows Rangers driving though rivers.

It this shit happened to my Ranger and they refused to warrant the damage, I would park it on the road in front of the dealer with a big sign (In Thai) on the bed saying:

Engine kaput due to water on the road and Ford won't pay. Send a couple of pictures of it to high ranking Ford people (not necessarily only in Thailand) and tell them that I will contact the news papers if no action is taken.

Okay I don't work here as Spoonman does.

Just had a call from someone higher up within my work, appears to be happenings behind the scenes to have this sorted out as the cause of the water entering the engine is of high importance to the business.

Slight hope I guess but it is going to be a long drawn out process, I doubt I'll get a happy resolution.

Happy to hear of a win, but there's nothing at all right about that.

Hope is always good.

If it does degrade back to you having to claim it on insurance, make it the servicing dealer's problem - i.e. call your insurance company and say "my car is at Ford dealer X, please send an assessor there to talk them - dont' ask me any questions because I don't understand". Then tell the dealer "My assessor is coming - please assist him to submit my claim - don't ask me any questions because I don't understand". Let the Thai's sort out the BS part of it all between themselves - all you should have to do is sign your name twice (on initial claim, and when work complete).
