March 30, 201115 yr Hi All, I was just hoping you could answer a few questions I have regarding my financial situation for when my fiance applies for her settlement visa in May. I was made redundant at the back end of 2010. My redundancy pay-off was enough for me to cover my living expenses over the last few months. I also took out some income protection insurance which I have been claiming since my redundancy. The thing is, however, I have also had to claim Job Seekers Allowance as this was condition of my Income Protecion Insurance Claim. I am due to start employment in the next few weeks, but it is on a initial contract of nine months (with a possibility that it may be extended). The salary I'll receive from this job will means I'll have a strong income. I work in the Financial Services Industry - I'm not one of these 'high-flying, big bonus bankers', but I can generally command a good salary. My questions are this: 1) Obviously I'll have to provide bank statements from the past 3-6 months. Will the fact that I was receiveing Job Seekers Allowance reflect badly on me? 2) How will the fact that I only have a nine month contract in my next job be viewed by the ECO? Can they reject the visa application on the basis that there's no certainty I'll be in employment in nine months time? Happy to provide any more info if it helps. Thanks, Charlie
