I'm pretty much in the same boat you are in. Going to be in Samui on the 15th and have been lurking these forums everyday for info. From what I gather things are returning to normal but it still rains often. I hope the rain dies down before I get there since I'm doing the whole Songkran thing up in Chiang Mai before Samui and I think by that point I would have had enough water dumped on me.

Things are returning to normal and a week or so there will hardly any evidence of the rains and the damage done.

The main land suffered a lot more than Samui and are still suffering with high water and lots of damage to power and roads.

No problems coming to Samui it will be business usual, so please come and enjoy Samui "The Pearl of Thailand"

Have a safe trip.

As above. There are a couple of places on the road where things slow down but all in all the island is running as normal considering the damage done. The great things about the Thai's here is they all band together after the floods and they soon have things up and running as before very quickly. Come and enjoy your holiday :D

Where would they go???

Koh Phangan wasn't as badly affected as Samui near as I can tell. Things are fine, its the mainland that took the hardest hit with villages being wiped away in landslides :(

OK, thanks. I got a couple of buddies going early next month to Thong Sala and Haad Yuan.

I saws some pictures of the road between Baan Tai and Haad Rin is quite damaged in some places.

If the east side was spared, awesome.

Everything gets fixed rather quickly. People make do and figure out how to work around the things that don't. Unless there's another major storm of those proportions things should be fine.
