Always look and check beforehand. Regardless of the box guy, crossing gates, crossing lights, or any such vacancy thereof. Unfortunately....many don't.

After working, on and off, for nearly 40 years with several railways, I recommend to stop if necessary.

Which means, if you cannot see the line left and right for approaching train(s, do stop.

Never trust the reliability of the the guard or the electronics.

The trains over here do not exceed 100km/hr due to the narrow guage & always use their horns as they approach ANY crossing manned or otherwise

Well, where I lived one could always see any trains coming a mile-off anyway.

But look at it this way; would you trust a Thai in a uniform?

I always at least slow down and look both ways first before crossing.No matter what!
