All is fine in Krabi town and Ao nang,Its been sunny for the last two days .Driving to phuket will take you around 2.5 hours.Just turn right out of Krabi airport, follow the road for around 5 km till you reach a T juntion.Turn right and follow the signs,to Phangnga, then Phuket.

Hi Caligula!

The Krabi-Phuket road is nice and have mostly 2 lanes, nice sceneries between Krabi, Aoluk and Phangna, plenty of gas stations and restaurants on the way.

To reach Phuket expect 2 hours to 3... if you drive safely(90-100km/h).

Around Krabi beaches(Aonang, Klong Muang...) the government has almost completed the widening of the large sections in the area so the roads are pretty new and decents.

Have a good trip!

I drove from Phuket to Krabi last Tuesday during heavy rain.

There is a short cut that avoids Ao Leuk and Tha Phut and this road was under a lot of water when I went through.

There were at least two hours more heavy rain after this, so there might be serious damage to this road.

I would definitely advise you to avoid this short cut and stay on Highway 4 which I would think will be ok.
