I remember speaking to a Friend of mine who had been out on his Boat all day & resuced a Burmese Guy from the brink of Death who was floating off of Samui..

Anyway's after the Guy regained his compsure, my Friend asked him obviously what had happened etc & it turned out the Guy was Burmese who he had rescued, working on a Thai Boat Fishing when the Thai Captain got a call saying Immigration were in the area so pulled a Gun on the Crew & said either Jump or get Shot..

4 of them jumped, no sign of the other 3 at all..

Apparently the Thai Captain didn't fancy the fine of having Illegals working his Boat, so basically preferred them all to jump & most probably die..

Nice..

Man's inhumanity to man never ceases to astound me. After a while you get hardened to the facts of life. Unfortunately, there is so much bribery of officials that it's almost impossible to stamp out.

Is this the same Dan Rivers who, when the Yellow Shirts took over the airport, stated all of Bangkok was in chaos? The same one who, back in 2008, said all bar girls (not brothel girls) were sexual slaves and victims of human trafficking?

Isolated cases no doubt exist. But the guys, all Cambodians, on the boats where I live are a happy lot and have been at it for years. I drink beer with them from time to time and hear of no such horror stories.

Of course, there's no story for Dan in happy campers, is there?

I have heard these stories before too. That is why I posted the link. I was surprised that CNN had discussed it.

What I find interesting is that a girl is killed crossing the road and it generated 512 replies (29,000 views). But this story is about modern day slavery and cold blooded murders and it barely got noticed. Maybe if it was revealed that the boat captains had Porsches in their garages at home. Then there would be some outcry.

I'll try and find the link to an Austrailian newspaper that did an excellent story on this.

Being a farang isn't so bad after all.

I have heard of this before and im sure it happens, the question is how wide spread is it. Im sure there are people working happily on the boats too.

So highlighting a part of a Post in Red to show that that is the part of the Post my reply is referring to, is illegal & give sMods grounds to delete a whole reply ??

Couldn't you have just changed the Text back to the original colour ??

If i changed the wording i'd understand completely as that would be wrong to do, but to highlight a part of the quoted Post with a colour iis deemed illegal ??
