December 21, 200322 yr I'm going back to California on Tuesday and I need to exchange about 34,000 THB (in 1000 baht notes) into USD, where can I get the best exchange rates? Should I exchange in Bangkok (if so, where is the best place)? Or wait til I get to the US and exchange at my bank? Thanks for any help.

(Actually, it might be best just to do it at the BKK airport, as I don't think the rates are that different between there or in town). Membrane
December 21, 200322 yr Definitely in Thailand. Carry your bank slip evidencing that you exchanged dollars for baht originally.
December 22, 200322 yr vasu has the best rate.. there s another vasu, the kid shop, just next door to the philipines embassy.. this one only lets the regulars...i think...

The biggest difference is between the arrival hall and the bank offices downtown but I think the departure hall exchange office also have a slightly worse exchange rate.

December 23, 200322 yr Do you know how much the difference is? I guess it varies but on my last visit a month ago you would only get 38 baht per USD in the arrival hall in terminal 2 (and the downtown exchange rate was almost 40).
