My situation:

I recently entered the country on a 12 month - Non-B Visa with my wife who is on a 12 month Non-O Visa which we obtained at the Thai embassy in the Netherlands. We got a stamp for 90 days when we entered.

Now. my company is in the process of applying my work permit and is saying that my marriage certificate needs to be certified by The Ministry of Foreign affairs in the Netherlands & by the Thai Embassy in the Netherlands ????????

I don't understand . What has this got to do with my work permit? If I get the work permit, they say I don't have to leave the county every 90 days, I just report my address to emigration. Is this correct? And does this also apply for my wife? Or does she has to do Visa Runs because the marriage certificate (official EU model) is not certified?

Getting a work permit does not allow you to stay more than a normal 90 day visa entry. It appears they intend to obtain one year extension of stay for you and matching dependent extension of stay for your wife but need proof of marriage to do so.

Thank you, but not exactly sure what you mean........I have a 12 month non-B which I was advised is the best way to enter the country, my wife on 12 month Non-O.

1) Yes we both got the 90 day stamp but why would they try to get a one year extension if my visa is already valid for 1 year?

2) I still don't get it, they have proof of marriage, I showed that same marriage certificate at the Thai embassy in the Netherlands, they didn't say anything this wasn't or had to be certifed. Now this needs certiication?

3) What is the best solution? They process my workpermit and my wife does visa runs?

1. A visa is used to enter Thailand. You were only given permission to stay for 90 days upon entry into Thailand and must repeat the process every 90 days for as long as the visa is valid. The alternative is to get a one-year extension of stay from immigration once you arrive in Thailand. That eliminates the need for the border runs for a period of one year.

2. The document legalization question again. All documents to be used in a foreign country must be translated and legalized (certified) by the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Royal Thai Embassy in the country of their origin. Ask your embassy in Bangkok if they can do the certification for you here. Some embassies can provide an affidavit of marriage that satisfies immigration.

It starts to become clear, unfortunately the Dutch embassy does not certify documents. To send this document to the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Holland for certification + after that to the Thai Embassy seems like a complicated and lengthy process, So what are my options?

This extension of stay they are trying to get for me, does that mean they cancel my 12 Month Non-B? And if so, will this have implications for my wife's 12 Month Non-O? Is that automatically cancelled too?

I feel the best option is just to get the work permit with the 12 month nob B and do visa runs with my wife every 90 days? Opinion?

Your wife would not have to do visa runs if you obtain extension of stay - she would obtain the same period as your dependent - that is why they need proof of marriage. And that proof needs to be in international legal form (as locally they have no way to know if document is real).

If you want to continue using visa entry you will both have to do so every 90 days and obtaining a new visa may be difficult for both of you as most will only issue single entry. If you expect this employment to last longer than a year I would think the extensions of stay would be more attractive.

Vienna700, Neither visa is canceled. The one-year extension of stay only extends your 90 day permission to remain in Thailand and eliminates the need to do border runs. You and your wife keep the non-immigrant visas you currently have.
