Latindancer Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 I've been to Chatuchak markets, various other local markets, Mah Boon Krong, and Pratunam. However I can't seem to find many shirts that I really like. They're usually too much like business shirts, with stripes or checks. Or else overpriced. Can someone please point me towards an area like Pratunam ( which is mainly womens fashion ), but which has mainly mens casual clothes, and is reasonably cheap like Pratunam ?
Samuian Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 with stripes or checks is right now the fashion trend - I hate it too...I don't know about "overpriced" but Emporium has a "Emporium Departmentstore" in the rear of the complex... and a mans fashion floor... I found some nice shirts (Hazard, Guy Laroche, Boss...) there - there used to be a couple of shops at chatuchak with "old fashined" 50ties shirts (Hawai, western type)And Central Chidlom can be a hit if "Season Sales" is up..
IanForbes Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 I know what latindancer is talking about, but I can't be of much help. I don't like 98% of what I see in Thai markets. I want a plane shirt with a large breast pocket so I have somewhere to put my reading glasses. I almost exclusively buy the Camo clothing shirts, or similar with other brands such as BOSS. I've only found them in a few markets and they cost between 200 and 350 baht each..
IanForbes Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 you mean this kind of plane shirt? Thanks for the correction. No, I meant "plain" shirts.... preferably blue like this. Of course I COULD impress the ladies like the one you showed.
jazzbo Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 So where do you keep hiding the good looking ones ... shirts, I mean.
Latindancer Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 I haven't really explored that avenue, but thanks for the suggestion. Perhaps I'll buy my own material and try a suburban tailor who'll be cheaper.....I'd never consider one in a touristy or central area. Their overheads and expectations are too high....

I have had 2 tailored suits made in Bangkok and never again. I only buy quality off the rack now, but thats Suits. The Tailors I have used for shirts have made comfortable and well fitting shirts. Raja Tailors Sukhumvit Soi 4. A horrible area, but the tailors came recommended. As I mentioned the suit was below my expectations, the shirts were reasonable value for money at 1100 B each.
Cambodge1 Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 I usually buy shirts and trousers from the Sukhumvit Robinson store. I used to buy from tailors but I found the quality to be very hit or miss. If Robinson have a sale on you can pick up nice gear very cheaply and if you buy in bulk you can negotiate further discounts.

But truly, one can find a variety of {men's} clothing of a decent variety of quality - from high-end dress to everyday casual. Worth a look.
Familyonthemove Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Camel Active do some reasonably priced, decent quality casual shirts .... they are nearly always on a 'half price' offer. Try MBK Camel Active shop. Central Chidlom also work a look ... but only if there's a sale. Tesco can be good .... need to search a bit.
bangsaenguy Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Some of the shopping centers have shops caleed "Export Shop" and have decent sport shops at decent prices
