change money around psah themi / orussey - gold shops. duh.

never change with an agent.

embassy gives great service too and ...its FREE

Aren't the gold shops "agents," unless they are printing their own money?

Some of us like to pay others to run around in the 95 degree heat and stand around in lines while we read a book and sip cold ones along the quay :)

dropped passport with him about 9:30am and picked it up 7:30pm. Very friendly. Got good rate on changing THB to $ also. (strangely could not find anywhere that gave as good a rate for $ as I got in Suvarnabhumi airport)

I sent an email to this agent and no reply Is he still in Business?

I see his phone number listed. Just give him a call and you will know.

Hi,

To get the 2X TV and with this agent did you need to provide an air ticket proving that you will get out of Thailand within the first 60 days?

Thanks

Posted

^ I've had TVs from Phnom Penh twice, last time in June this year - have not been asked for proof of travel out of the country.

At 60 days you don't need to 'get out of the country' just go to a Thailand Immigration office for a 30 day extension (1900 B), at the end of that 30 days a simple there-and-back border crossing is all that's required to activate the second 60 day TV (which can also be extended by 30 days)

I also used this agent last week and had no problems at all. His office is located maybe 20-30 steps north of the Paragon Hotel (on the riverside.) Or just steps north of the corner of 136 & Sisowath. He is open from 7 AM until 10 PM.

I did not realize he was open so late, so I got up early and he had my passport by 10 AM. I got it back that night around 19:30. Cost is still $88 which includes the double entry tourist visa and his fee.

can anyone tell me if i use mister keo visa service do i have to fill out the application form before and bring it to him or does he have the forms

at his office to fill out?

thanx rick

I did not have to fill out any form or sign anything. I did need to give him one photo. (I also needed a photo and $20 for visa on arrival at the airport.)

Yes...Mr. Keo has the forms and does all the work for you...just drop-off your passport and give him the "dough." :D

If you forget to bring a photo for Cambodia immigration (as I did once)...no problem...they will copy your passport and use it for the photo and charge you US$ 2.00 for the service (entry charge $ 22 instead of $ 20)...easy peasy...gotta wonder if US immigration would be as flexible ;)

As for a hotel recco...I like the Lux Hotel on St. 136...new, large clean rooms, beds, bathroom and only steps from the riverfront promanade and walking distance to Central Market, Royal Palace, and National Museum. Rooms from US$ 30-50 per nite. http://www.luxriversidehotel.com/

Do you know about fees for a non-O as that is what I want to get ( married with two kids ). Is it the same or different. Going on boxing day for a holiday. Stating at California 2 by the river. Looks okay. Anyone know it ?

Non-Imm O is $65 (single entry only) plus ,I expect the $18 agents fee ,if you use one.

Typical PP guesthouse...acceptable but nothing special...good Mexican food...about 5 min walk from Mr. Keo's office. Friendly macaque monkey lives in the area.

Update on Mr. Keo:

He has moved and enlarged his business from a rented desk space to his own shop a few steps from his old location :) He is very thankful for the business that has come his way from T-V'ers. He is now located next to the Paddy Rice restaurant at the corner or Street 136 and the riverfront. (211 Sisowath Quay; [email protected]).

It's very hot in PP now and it's rainy season so bring an umbrella if heading out this way.

Brought to you from the upstairs of the Blue Pumpkin cafe ;)

I hope the monkey isn't in the vicinity of the bar area. Had a bad experience in SNKV last time in Cambo with a monkey.

So where would you recommend for a hotel guesthouse on the river or close by for $30-40 a night. With wife and two young kids so the bigger the rooms the better.

^^ I stayed at C2 last year, happy with the place, location, clean and secure, Jim and staff are excellent people, very welcoming.

^cheers; will be back there November

The Blue Pumpkin - loved that place, nice salads and of course the icecream and ideal to relax and watch traffic on the river.

Was always scared to relax on those big couches though - visions of a video of a sleeping/snoring tourist turning up on Facebook.

Looked too comfortable.

Didn't I recommend the Lux Hotel and even provide a link to it in a nearby post? Rooms 30-45 per nite....new and clean and very large if you get a deluxe at $45 (except rooms in "12" stack like 212 or 312). If staying with family, also have suites for around 50 or so. More "family friendly" as lots of Asian business travelers and Cambo families stay here (it's not just mongers and too pricey for the backpacker crowd). Haven't seen any monkeys on St. 136 here on 3 trips this year...but there definitely is one/family living in the trees/streets around St. 104/California 2.

Just got my double entry but was a hassle... sent an Agent from Thailand to go get it for me but had a 320 overstay in there from before so they wanted to know why i overstay for so long... I told them im in a wheelchair permanantly due to a motorbike accident and they said they want proof.. so i sent them a pic of me sitting in sports wheelchair and they said we still not believe you its fake ... Im like <deleted> haha.. Luckily ive got a policeman at the border who is a captain who called them for me and clarified that yes i am in a wheelchair.. what a <deleted> hassle but eventually got the double entry

Just had a look at the Lux on tripadvisor. I know you can't tell too much by these things but a lot of people were saying that the management had changed and it has all gone downhill since then. Plus a lot of construction work and prozzy bars over the road .

Maybe take the word of a person staying there right now (in real time) than anonymous posters st Trip Advisor. I have stayed 3 times this year and always satisfied and there is no construction at the hotel (or in the vicinity) at this time.

There are girly bars on the street but they add to the local colour and like BKK bars and "better" hotels and restos ate often found adjacent to each other.

Another nice place is El Mundo right on the riverfront, all 2-BE suites with kitchennete and balcony at $75 per day. But PP is filled with room options from $10-$500 so look around.

Picked up passport this morning with 2x tourist visa. The cost per entry $ 35...plus $ 18 in charges for the one day turn-around and the agent's fees.

The agent did everything...just drop off passport and a photo and your're done. He said standard service is about 2-3 day service.

For me, the $ 18 is totally worth it...not having to go down and deal with the embassy hassle (a Tuk-tuk or moto alone would cost one $ 6 return). If you get him your passport before 10 in the morning you will have it that nite. (Just be sure to plan you trip so there are no Thai or Khmer holidays at the time.)

Hi. Would you be kind enough to PM to me, the contact information for this Agent? Thank you.

I will use this guy. I will stay at queen boutique hotel, not sure if any has stayed or not. I saw some talk about lux hotel also. I will bring my laptop and tr to get a 3G local sim card and report any issues. I have never been to PP but been to most every other place in the region. thanks for the info guys

Cambodia has a REAL 3G cellular network...one reason I love visiting there...it's like going to a "developed" country in this respect vs. Thailand (at least up until a few weeks ago if you live in Bangkok). I have used the "Hello" company network before with no problems and the locals tell me that "Met" is also very good. You can get either card at airport booths just outside the terminals. They will also insert the SIM and set-up the APNs for you (I always give them a $ 1 tip). Buy a couple refill cards as well.

Also be aware that free Wi-Fi networks are ubiquitous in the farang oriented bars, restos, cafes, and hotels in PP so internet surfing or calling using Skype and Google Voice services with either a smartphone or notebook is very easy.

will these new T visa rules be in affect when using this agent? My flight is Thursday now have 2nd thoughts if it is worth my while to go and try to get a double entry with these new rules or old rules being in forced again. I thought about calling the agent by phone, but since this was just announced today not sure that he wold have any details

Posted

Using the agent seems to be the first one reporting this as a fact and in place. See the report from Phnom Penh early this morning.
