Here is a warning for people as stupid as me!

I have just started a new job and need to use software that only runs on Windows XP pro. My company give me a crap computer to work on but i thought it would be nice if i could use my MAcBook Pro for work so i don't have to lug around 2 laptops. Anyway, i heard about Windows7 XP mode and thought it would work. I didn't want to use bootcamp because i didn't want to reboot every time i wanted to change Os's. I bought the latest version of parallels and Windows7 pro and installed them. All ok so far. Then i spent ages trying to download the software for XP mode. This is where everything came to a halt. XP mode runs a virtual machine inside Windows7. Windows7 was a virtual machine inside OsX. This wasn't possible. I contacted parallels help desk somewhere in darkest India and chatted with a guy that was absolutely clueless. I don't believe i was the first to run into this problem. After about 30 minutes of faffing around i was told "you can't do that".

So, in a nutshell, don't try to run XP mode using parallels, it won't work.

Nidge.
