Perhaps it's not a direct relationship, but understanding the whys and wherefores of Thai social and media infrastructure as such applies to "friendly" royalty - foreign or not. You'd understand better to know the history of good relations of the Thai crown and British counterpart. Naturally, the Thai media will do it's part to extend the general all-around good feelings. You could simply ignore it, but by whining all you've managed to achieve is to perpetuate it. All I can say is I hope you're not a yank, op, what with Barack bleedin Obama plastered across all forms of media 24-7/365. That along with the daily dose of death, destruction, chaos, filth & greed, it is actually quite refreshing to see a happy event for a bloody change.
