What is required of me to apply for a Non 'O' visa based purely on supporting my soon-to-be-born son?

Would it be easy to get 3 months in Malaysia?

I'm not married either.

Thanks for the help

For the single non-O, the birth certificate with your name on it will do.

For extensions of stay you will need to go to court and legitimize your child to become the legal father. Estemated costs for this are soemwhere bewteen 10,000 to 15,000 baht.

The birth certificate is enough to get a 60 day extension of stay from immigration.

Birth certificate naming you as the father.

To get extensions in Thailand you must be the legal father to the child.

If not married you will not be the legal father.

Getting married will save you time and money.

So does that mean i can get 90 days from Malaysia, then another 60 days here..?

Im confused about the legitimizing.. just the birth cert is not legit then?

Just to make things more confusing, I have an estranged wife that i haven't yet divorced. (Gone 3 years+ and no sign) So marriage is a no-no.

Thanks guys.. so 90 days initially is easy...if i can't get married or legit in 3 months do you think i can just go and get another 90 days from the same consulate?

What are the rules for extension of non-o based on child? Still the same 400,000 in the bank as for marriage? What about the 2" stack of paperwork required, is that also the same?

Getting married may save you some time, but it certainly won't save you money. There are absurd reasons to get married, and getting married for the (sole) purpose of legitimizing a child is one. .
