Sorry if this subject has been exhausted already.

I want to apply for a retirement visa.

Will it be acceptable to the Visa section if I open online a bank account with a Thai Bank in the UK and deposit ( GBP equivalent) of 800,000 thai baht.

If so can you recommend a specific bank that can do this, please.

Many Thanks

For a VISA it doesn't matter. Money can be in a foreign bank in any currency. But for an extension of stay from immigration the bank account has to be in Thailand. But some offices will accept a foreign currency account in a Thai bank.

If you apply for an O-A visa, you would need a medical check and criminal record, but would be allowed to stay for 1 year before you need to show money in the bank in Thailand. With a multiple O-A you could extend that two 2 years before you would need an extension of stay.

You must be in Thailand to open a Thai bank account. If you arrive on a single non immigrant O visa the first year requirement is only 60 days in account so you can open account soon after arrival and have time to meet that requirement during the 90 day stay allowed.
