I have been using AVG (Free) on one of my computers for a couple of months now with no problems until a couple of days ago. All of the sudden I am getting two windows poping up:

First:

File Name: www.google=analytics.com/ga.js

Threat Name: AVG AlertExploit Blackhole Exploit Kit (type 2005)

When I close that windo a second window shows:

Second:

Danger: Surf-Shield has detected active threats on this page and blocked access for your protection.

The page you are trying to access has been identified as a known exploit, phishing, or social engineering web site and therefore has been blocked for your safety. Without protection, such as that in the AVG Security Toolbar and AVG, your computer is at risk of being compromised, corrupted or having your identity stolen. Please follow one of the suggestions below to continue.

URL: www.google-analytics.com/ga.js

Name: Blackhole Exploit Kit (type 2005)

I am getting this on every Thai Visa page and on my own website. Yes I have google analytic on my site. This has just started appearing in the last two days. I have updated AVG and it is still happening. I have also scanned my computer with both AVG, Microsoft safety scanner and Microsoft Security Essentials. Every scan says that I am completely clean.

Has anyone else had this problem lately or in the past?

What did you do to get rid of it?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

B

I'm no expert, but I'm thinking you have a conflict with Google analytics and AVG. I would get rid of it. Why have it anyway? AVG should be sufficient. This sounds fishy to me I would get rid of the Google and then uninstall and reinstall AVG from a secure site like Cnet.

good luck.

Hi Trisailer;

Google analytic is used on web sites to track the visitors to the site, it is not a virus protection program. I was just mentioning that I had it on my website also. What is funny about the problem is that I have been using AVG for a couple of months and visiting Thai Visa and my website with no warnings. Now all of the sudden I am getting these pop up warnings.

Any other idea's would be appriciated?

Thanks

Try turning off LinkScanner. If that doesn't do it, try going to Advanced Settings, choose PUP Exceptions, click Add Exception, enter gs.js and click the box Any location do not use full path.

Chok Dee.

Samadhi;

Thanks, I went to advance options. Then to PUP exceptions. I was not able to enter just gs.js it would not allow that????? But I turned of surf shield and that seems to work.

Thank you for the great advice.

I hope my talents aren't wasted in Thailand..... LinkScanner isn't that useful anyway. Just use Firefox or keep Internet Explorer up to date. Cheers.

I'm having exactly the same problems, particularly conflict between Thai Visa website and AVG. I've used AVG for years, and suddenly this starts up just a week or so ago. Thanks for the added info, I'll give your suggestions a try.

Go and download this anti-malware program.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Run a full scan and see if theres anything wrong with it. Since many things can cause this to happen especially any new virus, malware or whatever you wish to call it can affect the scanner.

Also make sure everything is UP-TO-DATE! Never, never, never leave any anti-virus, malware or whatever out of date. Like I said, run the Malwarebytes anti-malware first.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I am using Microsoft Security Essentials also, I know I shouldn't run two anit-virus at the same time but they have seem to be working.

I turned off the Surf Shield and it worked. But the AVG desktop icon kept showing "Fix". When I clicked on "Fix' it would turn Surf Shield back on. The problem continued when Surf Shield was started again for about a day. Now everything seems to working fine with Surf Shield running. I am guessing one of the updates about a week ago cuased the problem and the more recent updates has fixed it. But either way everything is working great again.

Thank you all again for all the input.
