I'm sure there are quite a few aware of them, but most subjects covered ,and the documentaries are good. Well worth a listen on a none go-go bar moment. Usually put them on a disc or into a mp3 player for listening

Two questions:

Is podcast another way of saying an already aired radio program that you can download?

Is downloading restricted by your location, like as with the BBC iPlayer?

Another question, what has this got to do with Pattaya?

Some people like to hear stuff meant for those with an IQ over 50, so that rules out most of the Pattaya English language media.

The ABC (Australia's version of the BBC) also has a great range of pod casts, they are for playback on any MP3 device. It covers the full range of radio and TV programmes.

First one yes, second one no.

BBC Radio programs are available outside the UK, it's the TV programs that get blocked.

They have some great programs and yes, podcasts are basically recordings of their on-air radio programs. You can download them with any podcatching software and listen to them when convenient. They are also available for free download at Apple's iTunes store...history, documentaries, current affairs, science...it's all there.

BBC TV programs you just download via http://thebox.bz/login.php or http://irishbitz.net/ (Irish) no restrictions by location.

The BBC podcasts are great. However if you use i-tunes you can find podcasts covering every interest. I listen to shows on the subject of running, mma, Linux, OU subjects, and others. There's some good comedy on there too.

BBC Newshour is great, used to listen religiously by shortwave. I also enjoy Newshour PBS (US) , Meet the Press, Hardball, Rachel Maddow and used to love Keith Olberman. This American Life.

For fun try

Le Show - Harry Shearer

Bob and Elvis Show (US political junkies, left of center)

*Anything you can DL by David Sedaris especially if you can find the Xmas story they play on NPR annually, you will be in tears laughing so hard.

Much of these 1hr News programs (PBS/BBC) like the Economist stay relevant for a few days after release date. They are often in depth and many times touch on the hot topic of the day but also cover important issues in the world the mainstream does not feel sexy or bloody enough to keep viewers (listeners) attention. These often are also DL by people in developing countries so also tend to address wider issues than what works for the average punter in Manchester, Baltimore or Broom.

Incidentally...Frontline documentaries are EXCELLENT

iTunes is best for podcasts. Almost everything is there, if not everything and you dont have to worry about downloading malicious programs and spyware with players and mp3s you find on such such site.

And don't forget iTunes U...take all the classes you missed in college (and pretend you actually made it into Harvard).
