Specialist Childrens Dentist In Cm

Dentaland on Nimmanhaemin Soi 17 will treat anyone but supposedly specializes in dentistry for children. My wife went once for a consult about orthodontics and thought they knew what they were talking about but were expensive.

Dental land hands out free toys to the kids after consultations, apart from that very expensive for Thailand. We changed over to Tooth Teeth on the canal rd, far cheaper and great service.

Thanks everybody for the replies, appreciate it.

The lady dentist at the govt clinic in Doi Saket is excellent. But our 5 year old went into panic when Mum took him in there several months ago. Just refused to open his mouth. Unlike him to be difficult.

I consulted a personal friend who is a retired Prof Emeritus of dentistry in the US. He said simply "Let Mum be there to give reassurance and intro him to the dentist. Then Mum should LEAVE the room!"

This worked like a charm. The dentist was super, the boy had confidence (Mum had left him alone with her after all!), Mum was no distraction (no "playing to the gallery" and demands to go home!) and I recommend this simple advice to all parents of very young patients.

I've heard of Emergency rooms doing "parentectomies" for kids suffering asthma attacks. The Doctors stated it was quite successful. It turns out the mommies were more hysterical than the kids. BTW, Professor Supatra at www.ssdentalclinicchiangmai.com speaks good English and I'm sure she could give you a good recommendation--since most of the Dentist were her former students. I was intentionally swishing ice-cold water on a 6 month old crown yesterday, thinking to myself--those CNX Dentist really know their stuff--not sensitive, at all. Be very thankful you are in a place with quality/affordable dental care--you don't find it in the States, and it doesn't appear to be in the UK, either.

Another tip I think is to take kids to the dentist at a very early age, so they get used to it. Especially if it's a place like Dentaland where they get some toy, though I suppose you could provide that yourself too. It's amazing to see kids actually look forward to a dental appointment. That's an awesome achievement on the part of the clinic.

(And it's more than just the cheap trinket at the end, kids get too select cool sunglasses against the bright light and are just approached very well in a casual and comforting manner. And parents of course should do their part in showing confidence and encouragement. )

i have read that dental land provides nitrous for pain/anxiety... are there any other clinics that also provide nitrous (for adults, not children)?

Dentalland treats lots of adults, too. I would guess the majority of their patients are adult. And they offer nitrous oxide to everyone.

  • 9 months later...

We are just thinking of taking our child for their first visit to the dentist so I thought I would resurrect this thread to see if there were any further/newer tips.

Has anyone else tried the "Tooth Teeth" place mentioned earlier?

As an aside. I think dentaland was the first place in chiang mai to offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and then quite some time later Grace inroduced it (and perhaps others now?). The stinger though is that thay charge a hefty surcharge if you want it (unlike for example in Australia where there is no additional charge). I was told (it was while ago when I asked) that this was because in Thailand the law states that an anesthetist must be present in the room if it is used.

we have been taking our 8 yr old to Elite Smile (in front of Panthip) for almost 3 yrs now... not ever a problem for her. It is our dentist too, so i am sure that gives her a bit of reassurance... but FWIW...she had a great dentist in USA she used to see every 6 months for checkups and she got over her potential fear of dentists very early... but then, she has never had a filling/cavity either!

Wonder what kind of toys the adults get.

Can anyone recommend a dentist truly trained and certified as a Pediatric Dentist, a specialty training related to care for children's teeth?

"Some dental practices set up their facility to treat children, but they do not have specialized training. It is legal for non-pediatric dentists to treat children, but if you are looking for the pediatric dentist with specialized training, you must ask specifically if the dentist is a pediatric dentist."
