Non Imm 'O' Visa And Work

Featured Replies

Can one, who has a thai spouse enter thailand with a non-immigrant type O visa, subsequently apply for a work permit provided he has an offer for employment? Or must one exit and re-enter the Kingdom on a Non-immigrant B visa?

Depends on the labour office you are dealing with, some will allow the "O" others will want you to have a "B"

So in the worst case it's a matter of re-entering on a new Non-imm visa..Good to know that it is still do-able....

Should be no poblem getting a work permit on a non-O.

I have for over 5 years got WP on 'O' visa.....been told every time its actually easier than a 'B'..........last one applied and recieved only a few months ago

Yes, thanks for your suggestions, because I am planning to move to Bangkok from Dubai, as my employer here is closing down, and since I have my thai wife already in Bangkok and with our baby due in July, I know that getting an Non-IMM 'O' visa is possible.

But I still haven't gotten an invitation letter from my prospective employer, that would enable me to apply for a non-IMM 'B' visa. So it would be time saving to get the Non-IMM 'O' visa, to enter Thailand and then go and get a job and do the work permit there.

Thanks for your recommendations, in view of this, I shall go and get my non-IMM 'O' done right away. I even know one of the consulate officials personally - she is a family friend. I expect to be able to leave UAE in a month or so. These visas are vaild for entry within 2 months, right? I will ask @ the consulate in Dubai.

A single entry would be valid for three months from date of issue - a multi entry normally for one year.
