When I extended my "Retirement Permission to stay" last year.

we were required to get a New Embassy Income Letter

whereas in previous years copies of previous Embassy Letters were accepted.

What is the Situation now?

Can we use a Copy of Last Years Embassy Letter ?

Is the Rule the same for all Embassies?

Mine is from the British Embassy

Cost now is $50 or B1550, with quarterly outreach visits around the country easy to plan ahead and get during visit. Next visit to Pattaya is June 1st.

The OP indicated he was a Brit, in which case the UK Embassy charge 2340 Baht for such a letter. The UK Embassy don't have an outreach programme though they do have an Honorary Consul in Pattaya, is that where the OP lives? You can also get the letter via mail.

What precise documents does the British Embassy need in order to be able to produce this particular letter ?

The details are actually on their website http://ukinthailand....when-you-retire

Specifically:

Requirements:

  • Photocopy of your current British passport
  • Original evidence of your current pension/income
  • Your local address to be typed on the letter

If you are unable to contact us in person, please mail us your request stating the total pension amount received monthly/yearly and enclosing the above documents.

Exactly as theoldgit says but bear in mind you have to register first with the Embassy, very easy to do online and not a bad thing anyway..secondly, although the costs stated are correct (I know as I just received my proof of income letter again yesterday)..good idea to phone the Embassy before sending off each year to confirm the costs as their website is not always up to date.
