Pdaz
Planning a trip to Europe. But seems my missus must have travel insurance in place to obtain a multi entry schengen visa. Has to be a European company or a big multi national not some mom and pop local one.. Anyone have any suggestions or reccomendations. Available to purchase in Pattaya, BKK or online if posible.. Only short term coverage 3 weeks - one Month. Thanks in advance Pdaz..
bobrussell
Almost any of the travel agents will offer travel insurance. Just make sure it is with one of the big companies. My wife used to have this before we got married. It was a similar price to similar insurance in the UK. Just be bit selective to make sure you are covered for a long-enough stay. I think her policy allowed up to 3 months at a time which suited us fine but may not be adequate for everyone. Check a few agents to make sure you are getting a competitive quote. I have not bothered to check for on-line policies as we insure from the UK end when we go to Thailand for visits. One other suggestion would be to contact one of the airlines. They may know of brokers who specialise in this type of policy. Forgot the obvious - ask one of the visa specialists for advice. This must be a common problem! VisasPlus
The French Embassy website gives this list of approved insurance providers. I would assume that the other Schengen States will accept insurance from these companies too, but it might be worth checking with the country, or countries, that you intrend to visit. https://www.tlsconta...e_th_2fr.fr.pdf Edited May 24, 2011 by VisasPlus

thaimiller
I got mine for the wife and stepdaughter from AXA, I got it for a period of 3 weeks and it cost 1280thb each. The Spanish embassy accepted it with no problems. If you are going to apply for the visa before the policy comes through (takes 2 weeks or so) ask for a cover note at the AXA office and they will give you a print out with all the details on, this is what I handed in with my visa application. theoldgit
I always use World Nomads, who are underwritten by BUPA. http://www.worldnomads.com/ Not as cheap as 'Thaimiller' quotes from AXA, but you purchase online and get the certificate instantly, you can also extend the policy and claim online. If you use the code "world7" you get a 7% discount
