Well as per my order my Dongle arrived today !

Same set up as the E156G I already own, unlocked from new. Same Mobile Partner set up !! Except that as per advertisement and as per seller advice this one is locked to o2 !

Not in the slightest bothered as it was me asking originally how to get it unlocked !!

But our erstwhile colleague in the thread title insisted/bullied all that viewed, that he was right and everyone else wrong!

An apology is in order to all that took your advice.

Are you joking??

Perhaps you just don't know what you are doing.

First of all, O2 does not use Mobile Partner connection software. Absolutely not. So there is no way it can be the way in which you have described it here.

Anyone who has an O2 dongle can testify to this. O2 have their own connection manager. Pictured here: connectionmanager.png

As you can see, this bears no resemblance to Mobile Partner.

Moving on from this fact, perhaps you can tells us why you think that is it locked. What, exactly, happens to make you think this is the case.

This is your thread, so you have the floor.

Nope no further comments are required bar this post-Ive sat and amused myself after going back all through your last 3 month posts and the common theme is you're top dog and nobody else can POSSIBLY be correct bar YOU !! Its boring.

On this occasion I asked prior to receipt of dongle how to unlock it, as item as per advert was LOCKED-despite your persistance I enquired back to probably one of the biggest UK sellers (Argos-but you state they have no idea) if their item for sale was locked-YES its locked as per advert !!

On receipt I've actually gone to check its locked (yes ludicrous I admit)!!

Buy the product as JJ suggests but be aware it will cost you a few Euros as I originally suggested to unlock it-Jesus !!

I hope no one actually believes any of the rubbish that you are posting here.

ARGOS DO NOT provide unlocking instructions for USB modems.

Chivas has been ask to produce evidence of these instructions. He/She refuses to do so.

As you can see he is posting lies about the modem running Mobile Partner software.

O2 modem have their own interface as indicated above.

Chivas will also not explain to us what happens to make him think that the modem is locked.

If he does so he may slip up, so refuses to try to explain anything in detail.

So Chivas, tell us what exactly happens to make you think that modem is locked.

Perhaps you have made a genuine mistake.

You're embarrassing- I refer your enquiry to previous email address provided, plus Argos Information Employee with Telephone number provided.

Now if anyone is still reading my very original quest stands ?? Who can unlock for free(if any) or for small fee ?? Argos refers me to agents costing £6. Is this the best available ??

It's not locked. :)

Tell me what happens to make you think that it is locked. If it is locked I will unlock it for you for free. You can't say fairer than that now can you?

STOP embarrassing yourself !!

You've told everbody its unlocked !! Why would you need to unlock for free ??

Seriously dont post back as the debate is shut ok.

Is this some sort of face saving exercise?

The truth is that you simply do not know what you are doing?

If you would explain to us why you think that it is locked, we could talk you through your mistake.

Of we know know that it is not locked.

The problem is that you have no idea how to use your modem, but rather than admit it, you prefer to ignore the technical aspects and just repeat that is is locked.

But if it were locked, a specific sequence of events would occur. You have been asked to describe that sequence of events, but you again refuse.

Why is that? I can tell you why. It is because that sequence of events has not occurred. The modem is not locked, you just have no idea of how to use the modem.

It doesn't seem this is going anywhere. One says it's locked, the other says it's not. There doesn't seem to be any way to prove either statement, so time to close the thread.
