hi all .. all the diferent info on here gets confusing i must admit.

can anyone adivise my best option here please

my last 3 month leg on my multi entry O ends next week

i want to get the longest i can on a new visa at the lowest outlay of course.

45yrs old (god time flys) UK citizen .

thai (half english son here in thailand) not married.. only done the budha

do not have 400k bt here in thai bank (all in UK in hope rates go up one day)

ideally i'd like to get a new multi non-O 12 months..

the 60-30-30-60 day etc etc bits seem liek over all they will cost more than other methods... or do they .. ..

getting confused..

should i go to HK,Malaysia, laos.. firther afeild becomes prohibitve on flight costs and may as well jsut jump on a UK flight and do a long trip visa run :(

also my 21year old full english son is here and needs a new visa too .. he is learning to become a kite boarding instructor on a paid course.. i don;lt think this qaulifies for a ed visa tho so ne needs a new multi O also

flight options seem to indicate the most reasonable airline prices are to

saigon, Kalkuta ! (but do i need an indian visa lol), phnom penh, ,, and of course upto udon then bus to laos

so any of these have thai embasies that are nice people :D

No Consulate will issue your son a non immigrant O visa I fear and you will not find any closer than perhaps OZ and not sure if they would issue there. The days of non immigrant O visa to visit friends seems to be closing, or closed - even in the UK. For a Thai child without marriage/paperwork it is highly unlikely a multi would be issued (even with paperwork) in the local area. ED visa and extensions to study Thai is what most seem to be using currently when wanting to stay long term without other reasons.

Get married to your girlfriend

still need over 400k in thai bank i believe for a certain period of time .. although i have heard but do not know how that this can be got round

planning on doing the paper for the marriage anyway soon as we already did the budha part, but that does not help with a new visa in the next 10 days i don't think

The birth certificate with you named as the fahter of your Thai child will get you a single non-O at any consulate in the region. The birt certificate, a copy of the mothers ID-card, household registration and a simple letter from her aking for a visa for you to take care of your child will do.

That gives you 90 days to get married. You might also be able to get a 60 day extension of stay from immigration if you visit them with mother and child and mentioned documents.

When married, or become the legal father of your Thai child, you can get yearly extensions of stay if you can show:

400,000 in the bank in Thailand

OR

an income of 40,000 a month (can be from abroad and must be certified with a letter from your embassy)

Why even mention the child? Hull states

Category "O"

Married to a Thai national

Evidence required: Copy ofmarriage certificate (in English).

Could just as easy leave the Kingdom, print out the form from Hull and fill it in. DHL it to a sister or brother who then sends it to Hull, When it is returned get it DHL'd back to where the OP is staying. There is an element of risk involved in that the OP would not have a passport for a few days but it works and is rather cheap. I know a couple of people who have been doing this from Malaysia for a good few years just providing a photocopy of their GF's ID though the rules have changed as os late. Since all they (Hull) require is a marriage cert then it should remain the same. I should mention at this point that I wouldn't do it though. Not because an eagle eyed immigration officer into the Kingdom could see that you had not returned to the UK as the Thai visa issue date would be earlier than exit from wherever the OP resides outside the Kingdom, they really don't care about other countries visas but because I would not want to be without my PP if anything happened.

Read the OP: He is not married.

Only a legal marriage is accepted.

I did suggest he do so in post 4 and it would only work if this was done. 10 days to get married, translated and green eagled is ample time
