We live in a quiet soi at one time had several dog's wild/stray we used to feed, used to take care of the house's they would bark at night but we never had any problem's. A Thai peep's that lived up the soi one day put out poison and killed all but one, my good lady went crazy. As luck would have it took a photo's of him doing it. Off to the the police, who made a note of it and said if any person die's by being poisoned they would come and arrest him. So it look's like do as you want as long as you dont shoot/poison anyone. Good game A.

Some damned wat dogs killed most of our chickens. I had to build a fence, but a couple got it through the woods in the back and got another one. I chased them back to the wat and shot them right in front of a monk. It felt GOOD and my Thai wife APPROVED! Right now I am in BKK on business. As soon as I get home, I am going to poison them all -- every last one of them. I love dogs and have never poisoned an animal in my life but enough is enough. I am going to kill them all and I don't care what the OP or anybody else thinks about it.

And tolsti, you should mind your own damned business. Maybe you didn't notice that the topic was locked by the mods. Why don't you let sleeping dogs lie?

I'm a life long cyclist and have many thousands of miles under my belt. The issue of how to handle dogs is obviously a huge concern in Thailand because they run wild. But they are dogs none the less and respond to 1. not showing fear, 2. carry a stick to whack them if they get too close. 3. pepper spray is the last resort for very aggressive dogs. You can buy "Halt" which is specially formulated for dogs and believe me, it works. I've also sprayed them with my water bottle and most of the time it is usually enough. Your going to have to deal with them aggressively so they will remember not to mess with you. Do what the Thai's do. Watch "The Dog Whisperer" The problem with dogs is PEOPLE who don't understand how to deal with them. I carried the mail for a few months and the Postal Service had a entire course on dealing with dogs that said the same thing.

I can understand peoples frustration with dogs in Thailand, but dogs will respond to aggression that is controlled and appropriate.

I have a friend who hates the dogs that occupy a vacant lot near his condo. Some stupid farang goes there every day and feeds them. I have heard conversations about poisoning them, but that ignores a very important fact about Thailand's dogs. they are territorial and they will fight to defend their territory. If you killed them all today you would have a new batch next month because they will fill in the available territory.

The only approach is to prepare yourself to be aggressive. If you show down the leader once he will remember you and I guarantee that he will never bother you again. When you have the alpha dog afraid of you the rest will leave you alone. I know this is true because I have used this many times on my bike route that had aggressive dogs. Once I establish dominance that's the end of it.

This is another situation where you live in Thailand you have to adapt to it and not the other way around.

I understand your anger, but if you think you had a problem with dogs it is nothing compared to the trouble you can create by killing them. I believe that Thailand has a policy of payment for chickens killed by dogs. I would approach it that way way. Make the owner of the dogs pay and the problem goes away. If you think you can come here and change the Thai's, good luck with that.

You must be a very bad hombre to use a gun where growing a pair of balls and standing up to them would have been the more appropriate action. Something tells me that you learn very soon the errors of your "ways"

That was a troll. He just wrote it to upset dog lovers.

And all you do is to continue to play his game. Probably in the search of dog lovers to upset.

i am the mod that closed the thread, and i appreciate the fact that the OP here pointed it out. i have limited time and am in a different time zone so dont always see threads on time. however, for future, reference, if someone has a problem with a topic/post, it is possible to post a 'report' for us mods to see; press the button that says REPORT and it will show up on the reports listing that we get every day.

as for the discussion, thaivisa forum will not allow anyone to advocate poisoning/killing (for non food or euthenasia purposes) any animal regardless of the animal's behavior.

will close thsi thread also, point taken.
