We'll be shipping our household items when we move this summer. Can anyone recommend a mover for New York to Bangkok, especially one you have experience with? Since it won't be a lot we are more concerned with reliability (of time and cost estimates) than with the lowest cost.

I have contacted two shippers so far. One promised to call back with a quote; the other promised to email the quote. Of course, I haven't heard from either one.

Four Winds are an international shipper that have an office in Thailand.

Edit: if you have a Thai wife then put the shipment in her name as personal possessions for a returnee.

If no Thai wife and you're coming here to work then it's best to wait until you get your work permit then you can import the shipment duty free (in theory). If not you will likely be assessed for duty with opening negotiations starting at 20,000 Baht.

Hi 'CaptHaddock' I've only just read your topic, I can't promise anything, but my g/f is back tomorrow evening from working away, she is an export/import manager for a big company. I'll ask her when she gets in if she can recommend a company…I'll get back to you tomorrow eve!
