Hello,

On my way down south for my first trip to Samui next week.

Went to Krabi earlier this year and found an Italian place with pizza so good I almost decided to go to go back to Krabi for this sole reason.

Anyways, wanted to know if Samui had something similar?

American East Coast thin crust is my favorite, but I'm open to anything that isn't PIzza Hut/Company and covered with shrimp and cilantro.

Thanks!

If going to Juzza Pizza, specify the type of base you would like.

If you prefer a more 'Italian' pizza, try Il Mulino. Though, you'll have to catch the Puglian baker at the right time in order to get a custom made one.

There are a number of decent Italian restaurants on Samui.

No, haven't been to the new one. Where is it? Bang Rak?

Actually, a few people have complained about a sour attitude.

Personally, I've never had a problem with either of them.

They are just a normal family running a business and bring up their son.

In order to maintain the 'real' quality of the product, they do everything themselves. This includes baking the Italian breads, preparing the products, Pizza, Calzone etc Selling and delivering the breads...

It wasn't even a restaurant per se. It was just a cosy area in front of the bakery with two or three tables.

I imagine that they may get tired and tetchy at times.

Go there with a more open mind. (-:

(Hmmm.... I must be in a good mood)

Check out Il Molino as well.

They're really nice people, they work hard indeed and their pizza's are absolutely the best on Samui. Give'em a break and try them, you won't be disappointed.

They're now near the Bangkok Airways office on the ring road, a bit before that on the other side of the road coming from their old location.

Ok, Ok, I'm convinced - I'll give them a try.

3 Pizza places to try in one week should certainly fill me up. I'll be en expert by the time I get back. =)

Anybody have suggestions for a decent cheeseburger?

(As you can see I'm trading my 'all Thai food' BKK diet for an 'all falang food' vacation.)

For the best burger you'll need to wait until night. There are a number of food stalls on wheels that appear close to the Burger King.

Good chicken sandwiches and burgers for 60 to 70 baht.

I really, really hope they are not selling AMERICAN pizza's on the island!!!! A pizza is italian food and should be prepared the italian way, not the fastfood American way. Jaks!!!! :D Why should you want to eat all this junkfood when travelling in Thailand! :o

Chinese and Japanese food restaurants are not the same style as in their home countires, why should Italian food be any different? Things change to satisfy the majority of people's tastes!

I'm indulging myself in Falang food because I've lived in BKK for a year eating Thai food all day. Although great, I need a vacation from a burning mouth and upset stomach. :D

Why is it though that Italian food doesn't even travel a few metres out side Italy?

As for American Pizza - you are what you eat........

Long story short:

"La Taverna"  next to Black Jack Pub.

Thin, crust and... Italian.

Spicy salami with spicy olive oil !

That's it. THX

Is the midget still a partner in La Taverna?

I would never buy ANYTHING from Il Mulino's,they both deserve each other.

Luckily no one is forcing you to go there.

I don't get involved in the politics, I just enjoy the food.

i'm not sure what you mean by "fastfood American way" but IMHO pizza in many places in america is better than italy.

best pizza in Ko Phangan is Casa Italia Pizza, Tongsala, next to Vantana pub.

It would seem to indicate that you have never eaten true Italian pizza...

Pizza comes from Naples....anything outside of Italy is not pizza, it's junk...

I would suggest "The Deck" and try the cajuns fries (#94 I think)

Anytime I go to Samui( about once a month or so), it's for an overdose of farang foods (non-existance in Nakhon) and I make a point of going to Gringo's Cantina for Mexican food and the Deck for either a cheese burger or a chicken wrap with yogurt dressing.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Has No one mentioned 'Via Vie' in Chaweng (just oppo Samui International Diving). I can seriously say it was the best pizza I have ever had. Cooked in a wood burning oven, thin crust, tasty flavours. We actually went back a second time! And we are serious Thai food addicts!
