Rimmer
New Crackdown on Entertainment Venues Begins PATTAYA: -- New Banglamung District Chief Chawalit Saenguthai is preparing a crackdown on unlicensed bars, pubs, gogos, karaoke bars, discos, massage parlors, cafes and restaurants. Police have been instructed to begin strict enforcement of measures all entertainment venues must undertake in order to remain open. As a result of the new policy, police must now check to make sure all venues have at least one security guard or staff member designated to make sure that there are no weapons being brought into the premises. Patrons who refuse to be checked at the entrance to entertainment venues, particularly pubs and discotheques, will be reported to police for further proceedings. The security person at each licensed establishment must also check ID cards and not allow anyone under 20-years-old to enter the venue. Anyone seen to be using a fake ID and anyone without an ID who is of questionable age will not be admitted. Each establishment must have a way to monitor the premises to make sure no drugs are being consumed or sold. The 2009 regulation mandating CCTV systems must be in place with at least one camera on the front door and one camera on the cash register should help monitor for drug use as patrons who look high will be recorded on the video tape which is saved in 30-day cycles. Just like with the scare story about the crackdown on houses in corporate names/nominees awhile back...funny how the the offer of a "solution" to set things right was offered right under the story  Edited June 3, 2011 by FarangBuddha
