It looks as though the rain has left us for today anyway.

What it has left behind is a beautiful sunny Sunday.

For those of you TV members that are here, I hope you get out and enjoy, after I get done with breakfast it's off to the beach, maybe get a surf in and a run.

Then later tonight a chill/relax Sunday evening watching the French Open Final (go Rog).

Happy Sunday to all. Cheers, GOM

Yep, got the car top down early this morning. Driving about relishing the joys of life and thankful that I live here on Phuket Island.

Thanks for the positive post GOM.

My Buddha you lot must have had even more of a great summer than the usual one's you get. If you have got to put a post in about one sunny day. Thankfully I dont go there anymore. Enjoy, as tomorrow is another day.

Some manage to see something negative even in a positive, innocent post.

Sorry but I took it for something that's not the norm. This is Thailand is it not, I live in the middle and apart from the odd rain shower it's been hot/sunny for the last 6 week's. Next time we have a crappy day maybe I'll put a post in. That's if I've got nothing better to do.

Oh dear......you don't live in Phuket, but, in mind-numbingly boring Nakorn Nowhere.

I feel your pain.

Watch out for skin cancer. Use plenty of sun screen. :) :) :) :) :) :)

I know exactly what you're saying GOM. It is a gorgeous Sunday.

I took the opportunity to visit a good friend of mine. We sat on his balcony looking down on the yachts in beautiful Chalong Bay while listening to some mellow music and downing a couple of grapongs.

Makes one glad to be alive and living on this paradise island. :D

So Phuket is the end all of Bu??er all A. Well I never, I was first there 25+ year's ago and then yes it was GREAT. Lovely CLEAN beach's no problem's with the tuk tuk peep's go mile/km for a few pence then they would wait and bring you back. I was last there 9 year's ago no different from Pattaya. Well I tell a lie three time's the price for everything. You just enjoy. but maybe you should get out and about and see what the real Thailand has to offer. I have never heard one derogatory thing said about my Nakon nowhere how about you???

Been there, done that. Prefer Phuket. Yes, it's changed since I first visited in 1983.

I have never heard one derogatory thing said about my Nakon nowhere how about you???

Probably because of:-

a. Nobody goes there.

b. nobody knows where it is.

Have a nice, quiet life.

And you also enjoy your choice.

You obviously never got past Patong.

Ahem......"mind-numbingly boring Nakorn Nowhere". That's derogatory!

BTW this may come as a surprise to you but different parts of Thailand have different weather patterns - amazing Thailand eh?

I too feel your pain. :violin:

So let me get this straight. You've been to Phuket and other parts of Thailand, and preferred one of the other places. Lots of other people have been to the other places and Phuket and preffered Phuket. Wow, it's as if we're all different people with different tastes. I never realised that before  .

Ask yourself this 'fredob43'. Why is it you come on here to tell us how wonderfull and much better your life is, in Nahkon buffalo field, yet nobody that lives in phuket has any interest in telling you, that we have no desire to live where you live? Funny that isn't it. Care to explain your logic?

We were living in Phuket 2 years ago, time's gone so quickly, - found some pics dated 6 June 2009, good memories of our time there.

Hope you have another great day tomorrow!

Actually, I will.

I have absolutely no desire to live in Nakorn Nowhere because:-

It's a living death as far as I'm concerned. There are just too many hours in the day to try and kill.

There's nothing to do and nowhere to go and if there is, once is enough.

Even if you speak Thai (I do), the locals usually have no education and their conversation is limited to food, or, local gossip.

God knows what you would do if you couldn't speak the lingo and was dependent on the missus.

Pretty much every single foreigner I've ever met who does live in Nakorn Nowhere didn't actually choose to live there themselves. Their wife, or, girlfriend chose for them.

They live there because either the missus wears the trousers, or, their limited means dictates that they live there.

It's all about choice, or, the lack of it. There is very little in Nakorn Nowhere. No choice in shops, restaurants, activities, destinations etc.

Nakorn Nowhere and Phuket are at the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to choice.

But hey..........that's just me and my own preference.

We have had a few straight days of rain. It was very nice at the beach today, once I finally got the gf out of bed! Overcast so not to hot, a gentle breeze to keep cool but not enough to bring out the kiteboarders that zip up and down Kata using the waders as a slalom.

But there will be a lot of people out there that do genuinely enjoy their lives in rural Thailand. I have a very low bordom threshhold, others don't. Some people just like to read, paint pictures, and go for long walks. Each to their own.

The point is, anybody who goes out of their way, to try and convince other people that their personal choices were wrong, are undoubtedly trying to compensate for their own misgivings, of their own lifestyle and happiness.

Your all more than likely waiting for my reply. Just my thought's.

As stated first went to Phuket 25+ year's ago loved it. You HAD to have a 4x4 to go anywhere. Been back several time's since. Each time it's got more built up touristy and dirty. Beache's, water, town's, I've no doubt that there are still some nice place's there. But I've seen it, found it, done it. Did live there for a several month's but it just wasn't for me. Tried many other beach resort's, lived in Yes I know Pattaya for a few year's. Enough said about that. In the end it was go back home or find a new place that suited me. So it was Nakon nowhere. Took me several year's to find the right Nakon and I love it. Must admit though not everyone's cup of tea. As far as shopping go's. We had a Makro before Pattaya did, Big/C, Tesco's, Market's all here. Bar's less of them thank the lord but we have them. Restaurant's Thai/Farrang again here. Not seen a Buffalo for some time. About the only thing I haven't got is the sea beach. But as I haven't been on one for several year's something I dont miss.

I chose the place the G/L never got a look in. Logic, I love Thailand so I picked a place that was Thai. Not wanting to live in a place that every other peep's is a Farang. If I wanted that I wouldn't have be here in the first place.

Glad to hear you all had a good day on the beach. My post were all tongue in cheek. At least I gave you someone to have a go at after the sun went down.

Great day yesterday but then came the termites flying around in the evening.

Had to turn all the lights off in the house to stop them hanging around, millions and millions of them.

The pool is full of them today.

Good point. A lot of Nakorn Nowheres filled up with farang during the 2008 crash. Many may have just been able to survive in the tourist areas, but when the crash came, they had to move somewhere cheaper. Obviously, most went north and some moved in with the in-laws.

It's possible that some of these guys may have enjoyed living in Nakaorn Nowhere, whereas previously, they never would have contemplated living there.

I know of a couple of guys that now live in Chiang Mai and Udon Thani, due to Airasia putting on Chiang Mai and Udon Thani to Phuket direct, and they come back to Phuket just for a holiday every 5 to 6 weeks, or there abouts. So, that's a good mix. Each to their own.
