S Korea Arrests Hundreds Of Illegal Teachers

Featured Replies

Canada gets the most generous visa free entry into Korea and we don't need a bunch of unqualified wannabes screwing it up for the rest of us. If they committed fraud they should do time in jail.

^Pretty harsh judgement, there! Especially for something that was likely tolerated for a long time and taken advantage of by the Korean school-owners. These things should be preceded by an announcement of intent- "we really are going to arrest you this time if you don't leave"- if a true change of policy is about to happen. Otherwise you just get trouble and bad PR for nothing.

Using a fraudulent certificate/document is a criminal offence.

Some countries are lenient and some are harsh, as the case may be.

That is the risks they have to take. As the saying goes, " Ignorance

of the law is no excuse " (English Jurisprudence).

I agree.

A warning in a situation like this is the decent thing to do.

As one lady said .... "they are teaching ABC's, not running drugs"

It sounds like an hysterical response to something by someone

powerful in the Korean bureaucracy. I hope they settle it our

quickly without a large panic among all Korean English teacher expats.

To the "serves 'em right" crowd ......

I hope you can take your own medicine when one day you find

your arse in a crack.

Well, at least they'll have somewhere to go. :D:o

I heard it was only 150 of them? Not really hundreds then???

If the Koreans can't count its just further proof that the teachers were unqualified. :o

^^Cute, but as these were ENGLISH teachers we're talking about, how does counting figure into it?

Sure English teachers can count, just try to underpay them. :o
