I am trying to get a grip on a land-fill-in situation:

Taking as an example 1 Rai (1600 square meters).

- Fill-in depth 50 cm = 800 cubic meters.

- A 6 wheel-truck can haul 24 cubic meters per load. Therefore, it would take about 33 truckloads.

- As far as I know "truckload-prices" can vary widely (from 400 to 1200 BHT per load). And: Does a load mean a large 6-wheeler or a smaller 4 wheel truck?

Based on above figures, a fill-in cold cost anywhere from 13'200 BHT (400 x 33) to 39'600 BHT (1200 x 33).

Is this calculation about right ? If not, plase DO correct me, I can take it! HeHe.

Thanks & cheers.

A six wheel truck cannot carry 24 m3 of dirt.

A ten wheel carries 10m3, 15,000 kg

so a six wheel should carry only about 5 m3,

and a four wheel perhaps 2 if it's a very heavy axle.

I pay B900 for a ten wheel load of fill clay

hi, if its any help, a couple months back we had a 30mtr x 49mtr area filled at 1.2 mtr high and a 70mtr x 4mtr access road again at 1.2 mtr high,, in total used 165 big tipper loads @ 900bht/load,, but I would imagine the distance to travel to site may also have a bearing on price per load.

2,100 m3 total

165 loads @ 12.73 m3 / load

B900 / load => B70.71 / m3

B148,500 Total

Carrying these numbers to swissie

800 m3 Total

63 loads @ 12.70 m3 per load

B900 / load => B56,700 Total

Does the price include tractor to spread?

In my case mentioned above, it did not.

On a separate job

A Ford 6610 with a dozer blade cost B600 / hour

with a skilled operator who shot a 110 x 20 meter pad in

to 0.20 m error throughout.

From the seat of a tractor the man had a very good eye for level.

There was a lot more to that job than just spreading truckloads of fill,

so I am not able to comment on how much spreading fill should cost.

Sorry guys,, I made a mistake in the most recent reply,,,, the above price included tractor for smoothing surface and after the levelling was done a big Makro (they called it) or JCB went over the surface and sides again to compact them more,, incidently the pick up point was only about 4km from the land fill area, and the machinery (tractor/JCB) was all quoted inclusive at the time, although the contractor did try to squeeze a bit more money from us by saying that for the price quoted we would only get a small makro to finish the job, I called his bluff as I knew a smaller one would have taken much longer to finish the job therfore I thought unlikely he would use that.

Hi Swissie,

i have recently had 200 loads (10 wheeler) of sandy back fill delivered and spread on my 2 rai where i plan to build in the new year some time,

i only paid 650 per load because the trucks only had to travel less than one kilometer,

the quote included levelling which is usually free for 100 plus loads anywhere or atleast it should be,

you will be amazed how much extra time and care they will put in to your job if you keep the M150 & rice whisky travelling their way, but not to early in the day,

Good luck, Quumlup cup

Hi we had an old dam filled in which was 22 mtrs x 15 mtrs and 3.5 mtrs deep that took 70 10 wheel trucks and @ 450 a truck and that included a tractor to spead it cheap really as the dirt came from up the road . We also had the front yard at the road brought up to road level this was 23 mtrs x 33 mtrs x 1.7 deep and that fill came from at the rear or our property where our new dam was going and that was at 530 a load which included a tractor a large excavator and 3 x 10 wheel trucks going for about 14 hours none stop

Big thing to remember let this land settle for Atleast 1 year for natural compaction before building

Hope this helps you out

I am the OP and I would like to thank all the folks here for their input (Yes, I was a bit off by assuming that a 6-wheeler can carry 24 cubic meters!)

Cheers.
