Crackdown On Contaminated Chicken; Thai Food

Just spent 6 days in hospital with acute diarrhea after eating KFC. I had nothing to eat before that for about 18 hours so am pretty sure it was the KFC (Ramkhamhaeng Branch). within an hour I started to the toilet. Can't really trust anyone nowadays about food, its just a daily gamble, where-ever you eat: on the street, in a fast food outlet, or in a fancy restaurant. Russian Roulette

In another newspaper the reporters have attempted to find the source of the chicken, cause of death, etc. It would appear the birds are dieing of a disease and instead of being buried/burned by the producers/farms they are sold on to be used any way the packaging/butcher facilities deems fit.

They probably pay a pittance for dead birds vs live bird on arrival, so profit increases. It would appear that in typical Thai fashion, the authorities are issuing warning about future action, instead of punishing those who are responsible. It also appears that there are least 2 or 3 government watchdog groups who are suppose to monitor and enforce what rules there are, but each work independent and at different stages of the process of farm, slaughterhouse, market.

This whole procedure in the poultry industry makes the "road kill" look better all the time. Have to think that a similar procedure is followed throughout Thailand by meat producing/slaughter facilities,. What a bunch of sick money driven bast.rds.

Makes one wonder about KFC and Maccas, where do they get their chicken from.By the time thay mix the secret herbs and all in to it how would you know what the chicken is like?

I would go near those places myself.

I read Fast Food Nation a few years ago and it mentioned that in McDs a hamburger contains meat from approximately 108 cows.

I seem to remember the meat % rate in the chicken was not 100%.

And someone said they bought frozen chicken. I wouldn't buy frozen meat myself. I buy fresh. Usually you have a day or two to eat it (from fridge) before it must be placed in a freezer.
