XUANG XUANG AND LIN HUI HELP GENERATE 30 MILLION BAHT

Mr. THANAPAT PONGPHAMON (ธนพัฒน์ พงษ์ภมร), director of CHIANG MAI zoo, said Xuang Xuang (ช่วง ช่วง) and Lin Hui (หลินฮุ่ย), two pandas from China, have lived in CHIANG MAI zoo for 2 years and they can generate revenue more than 30 million baht from selling the pass ticket. Therefore, the two pandas are considered as the magnet to attract the tourists.

Mr. THANAPAT mentioned that today (12th October 2005) is the anniversary of the two panda bears came to the show and research sections of CHIANG MAI zoo. Xuang Xuang and Lin Hui have considerably grown up since they came to Thailand two years ago. At the moment, male panda Xuang Xuang is 149 kilograms in weight and female panda Linhui is 113 kilograms in weight which are meant to double their weight from the beginning. They have a good health and can be fertile. In addition, Xuang Xuang and Lin Hui have expressed the sexuality.

Regarding the coming of the two pandas in the past two years, Mr. THANAPAT added that the number of visitors and tourist has increased comparing to year 2003. In 2004, the number of visitors has increased to nearly 1 million people and the CHIANG MAI zoo can generate revenue more than 30 million baht regarding the selling of the pass tickets.
