I use 'The Box' to download my UK TV programmes, and this is normally downloaded to my desktop PC.

Using the wireless system in my house (therefore the same ISP) I'm unable to log on to The Box with my laptop.

Obviously, I'm not trying at the same time the desktop is working, I just wanted to get something straight onto the laptop.

It must be something to do with my laptop settings, but just can't figure out what's stopping me logging on. Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Difficult to give an answer without more info but I believe you need to enable cookies to log on.

:)

Thanks, Daffy. I had cookies enabled already, and it still wouldn't log on.

However, working with tekkies in the past taught me to value a "BRS Error" - Big Red Switch! In other words, turn it all off, then turn it back on again!

So, I've just deleted all The Box cookies I had. Then tried to log on, and, hey, connected immediately!

Obviously, something in the existing cookies was fouling things up, so logging on as 'brand new' seems to have worked. Fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again.

Reload the program you Re using..Expat shield? Then reload to update...

I thought that ExPatShield was a no no with Thebox. It would be useful if allowed, however I don't want to risk getting kicked off so will wait for someone to confirm....thanks.

Just an extra bit of information.

One early morning after a bit of a night out I just could not get it to accept my password.

After trying many many times each time more carefully checking each slow key stroke I was just about to give up and go back to bed when I noticed the input language was set to Thai.

The wifie had been using the computer and left the language set to Thai.

So lesson learn an English password will not work with random Thai characters no matter how many times you try :whistling:

You will get kicked out for using any kind of ip masking/VPN/etc

unless you have been granted prior permission. :bah:

BTW I see TVChaosUk.com has gone to secure mode (https)

so there is no need to use any masking there.
