June 16, 201115 yr I visited the Royal Thai Consulate-General HongKong website to review the requirements for retirement in Thailand and I observed something I had never seen before. Can anyone clarify if this is accurate and does this apply when trying to stay in Thailand on a retirement visa. I am referringto the section that says "or property deed" which is inferring thatin lieu of the 800,000 Baht or income requirement.A copyy.A copy of bank statement showing a deposit ofthe amount equal to and not less than 800,000 Baht or an income certificate (anoriginal copy) or property deed. The applicants need to prove ordemonstrate adequate income documents or assets to support their living inthe country. http://www.thai-consulate.org.hk/web/3015.php?s=4264
June 16, 201115 yr or property deed That's their thing in HK for the O-A. O-A requirements are different than in Thailand requirements, for example for the O-A banked money is usually not even IN Thailand. As far as is this accurate for HK for an O-A; yes, probably it is unless their website is publishing an error. When you start living in Thailand, you then will likely be doing retirement extensions. I can say with 100 percent certainty property deeds won't be accepted IN Thailand for your continued retirement extensions. Edited June 16, 201115 yr by Jingthing
June 16, 201115 yr I donot think the Hong Kong O-A requirements apply to you anyway I believe that you have to apply in your country of origin. You could get a non-o in Hong Kong and recieve a extension of stay for retirement in Thailand before it expires
June 16, 201115 yr That's true too! O-A must be applied for in your home country generally but I think they may be reasonable exceptions for those with residency status in a third country. To be clear, it is very common for retirees to be on retirement extensions in Thailand without ever getting an O-A. Edited June 16, 201115 yr by Jingthing
