Crowd wants legal review of Yingluck's perjury case

By The Nation on Sunday

Many people showed up at Thammasat University yesterday to sign a petition calling for a legal review of alleged perjury - lying to a court - by Pheu Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate Yingluck Shinawatra.

member of the now-defunct Assets Examination Committee, which looked into controversial deals involving former premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

The petition will be submitted to Tarit Pengdit, chief of the Department of Special Investigation on Tuesday.

Kaewsun said he had launched the campaign because no state agency had taken action against Yingluck.

He said Yingluck's elder brother, the ousted and convicted former premier, had "betrayed" the people once and he would not allow Yingluck to do the same by becoming prime minister.

Tul Sittisomwong, a leader of the so-called anti-Thaksin multi-coloured shirts, was a key figure in the campaign at Thammasat University.

He said corrupt people had got away by being virtually "untouchable" over the past decade and he would also do his best to revive the case against Yingluck.

Some petitioners have also said they will write letters to condemn Yingluck's past behaviour.

Looks like we can add Thammasat University to the list of PAD fanatics.

Thammasat has staff that are red-leaning and yellow-leaning and neutral.

It has been a focus point for both red and yellow activities.

Looks like we can add you to the list of people with limited knowledge of events and situations which doesn't preclude them from making sweeping and grossly inaccurate generalizations.

.

LOL

welcome back Ratty, been on a holiday? Did you miss the bit about multi-colour shirts?

IMHO the petitioners, much like the Army chief, are just a little outraged that a bunch of criminals are trying to gain (re-gain?) control of their country. They've got a point.

The Thammasat University Massacre of students occurred on October 6, 1976 Students were demonstrating against the return to Thailand of Field Marshall Kittikachorn one of Thailand's many military dictators, Approximately 46 were killed. Many were beaten and tortured. Many of the corpses had been mutilated.

In consideration of the above, how strange that defacto supporters of the former military junta would use use Thammasat facilities to pursue their campaign. Oh sure, they are upset with Mme. Yingluck. That's why there is a photoshopped image of former PM Thaksin showing. Right. These folks have every right to make a complaint and to ask for an investigation. However, had they stuck to the subject and not used the image of Thaksin as they did, they would have more credibility. Instead, this will be dismissed as opportunistic politicking.

They are graphically making the point that her actions are control be his choices. It is parody and irony in graphic form.

And of course that are politically against her candidacy.

They have that right, regardless of what some other set of generals

may have done 35 years ago, or 1.5 generations back in history.

People flock to press charges against Yingluck Shinawatra

BANGKOK, JUNE 19 - Former Assets Examination Committee member Kaewsan Atiphoti as well as MD Tul Sitthisomwong stated their opposition to the amnesty plan for Thaksin Shinawatra.

A public conference was held at Thammasat University for the people to sign up to file charges against Ms Yinguck Shinawatra, the prime ministerial candidate of the Pheu Thai party. The charge against Ms Yingluck along with preliminary evidence will be passed on to the Department of Special Investigation for further examination.

Mr. Kaewsan said there had never been a working agency taking legal proceedings against Ms Yingluck Shinawatra’s false statement made to the Supreme Court. Therefore when an accusation emerges, lawsuits are imperative, especially when there’s the case of amnesty plan of her brother Thaksin Shinawatra involved.

In addition, if the Pheu Thai party wins the general election through majority votes, people will have to accept the party’s platform. Every policy is prepared to proceeds promptly but the idea of the party’s exploitation of public votes for individual gains will be strongly opposed and the people will not tolerate any betrayal of their trust for the second time.

The Nation forget to report that he claims not to be political motivated.

This quote from the OP:He said Yingluck's elder brother, the ousted and convicted former premier, had "betrayed" the people once and he would not allow Yingluck to do the same by becoming prime minister proves that he is politically motivated.

Thai politics be dull without such people.

Anyone being against Thaksin is PAD?

Well, rhetoric like that is enough to continue fight against the 'Red' version of democracy...

Also add to the list who think your either yellow or your red, and failing to miss the fact that many people / many posters here on tv, are niether red or yellow, and many who agree / disagree with some aspects of the 'manifesto' of both yellow and red.

DSI to probe on Yingluck for perjury

The Department of Special Investigation will form a fact-finding panel to probe into alleged perjury involving Pheu Thai candidate Yingluck Shinawatra before deciding whether to launch a full investigation into the issue.

The panel will try to clarify two legal questions - whether there is cause to suspect Yingluck's involvement and whether such perjury, if committed, would fall under the DSI jurisdiction, DSI Director-General Tharit Pengdit said on Tuesday.

"The DSI will expedite the probe, expecting its completion soonest possible," he said.

Tharit was reacting to a petition filed by two activists, Kaewsun Atibhodi and Tul Srisomwong.

Well Thaksins rapid deployment team, including the Thaksin's "Cyber Warriors", is out cleaning this mess up and sweeping it under the carpet.

"At the order of an "overseas person", Phumtham echayachai, chief of a 10-member special force named "Cyber Warriors", has opened a new political battlefront in the social networks with a "war room" at the Pheu Thai Party's headquarters. Their daily routine is to screen information from the cyber-world and forward it to the party's strategic team, which will order the party's spokesman team to call a press conference to counter or inform the public on certain issues. The cyber-team also sends spokesmen's messages to Web boards, Facebook and Twitter and text messages to television stations". http://www.nationmultimedia.com/politics/The-growing-influence-of-social-media-30193981.html
