Firstly, my Xmas greetings message, to the readers here, was not part of a clue to the identity of the city. Although many celebrate Xmas in this country, it is not known as the home of Santa.

The country is about 110,000 sq kms and has a population of about 8 million. Around 7 million tourists visit each year. It gave the world the Cyrillic alphabet, the second most-widely used alphabet in the world, which originated in the tenth century AD.

It is considered to be the 3rd most culturaly significant country in the world behind Greece and Italy.

The city is capital of a province in the north west of the country.
