Hermano Lobo
Is the Bond genre outplayed. Has the whole thing become too predictable too long ago ? I find re-watching the films I only half enjoy them and usually skip the predictable finale. Are the Bond films a cliché awaiting to be dismantled? Could they be re-invigorated by setting them in the period in which they were written and with minimal special effects? Making them darker on all counts and being very faithful to the original books. Then finish with them ! P.S. As for Roger Moore, his first film Live and Let Die I thought was excellent. As for the rest............??? Connery defined the character. Therefore he will always be looked upon as the best. Personally I don't think they have dated very well ? Best Wishes, Harry Palmer
PeaceBlondie
I saw the movie yesterday. The actor looked ugly or plain, or too old. And that's the opinion of an older gay man! He never seemed distinguished, and he looked middle class. Not like the James Bond of Connery and Brosnan. The movie itself was your run of the mill spy movie of the 21st century. Killings, lies, and the leading lady wasn't full-breasted or gorgeous. If you like to see people being killed, it's a movie.
The Dan Sai Kid
I saw the movie yesterday and enjoyed it - they were pretty faithful to the book. It's just that the books do need some "filling out" as there isn't much to them! They have taken out a lot of stuff that makes the franchise popular, but the one thing that I really missed was the music. You know the music they play as Bond makes a dramatic escape - there was none of it. It was like you could be watching The Bourne Identity or any non-descript thriller. I understand that this is the Bond that Ian Fleming wrote about, but the fact that this is the 21st Bond film suggests that a lot of people are happy with the format. I thought Craig was an excellent Bond and certain aspect were very good - I just felt that I want something different from a Bond film. I hope they bring back some things for the next one. James Bond Will Return!

Being a spy myself I bet you know that excellent Swiss-run restaurant near the Day-Night Hotel in Pattaya ? That area is not my personal cup of tea but the food is great ! Clientele are also well behaved. There aren't any skinheads and tattoos. Cheers, Harry Palmer Edited November 17, 2006 by Hermano Lobo

I drive an Italian car, I speak English, ex-army, I’m perfect for a (Hollywood) spy! Spys don't tend to drive Fiat Pandas! This reminds me of my "English" car, an old triumph spitfire MK begin 60’s! This car I had for a couple years in the 80’s. Nice car when it’s working, most of the time it wasn’t working: break problems, clutch problems, carb problems, elec problems. I hope for james that his Aston works better! Btw: Jimmy Bond sounds good no?? My name is Bond, Jimmy Bond!
Hermano Lobo
Listen ‘ere yoo lot, the trouble wiv this Bond geezer is he’s too harry nash for his own good. I mean look at the amarnt of bread-n-honey this Hollywood lot ladle out on ‘is films. Loads of bluddee money. Drowning in bleedin’ dosh and guess wot ? Bluddee plot has more holes than a colander ! Yoo take one of ‘is last films? Die Another Garment or The Money is Not Enough, or some names as that? Bloodee ‘ad him and that ‘ol bat of a boss of his letting us believe that both of them, plus a load of suited herberts from the same office, could watch a bleedin’ great TV with a live satellite picture of aktshun, in some terrorist training camp in Couldn’tgivaStan or some such dusty hole. Now everybody in the service knows that that is right load of ol’ rollocks ! Nobody has that type of technology, total Hollywood rollocks. Anyway, those satellites, I said those satellites, can be jammed. Ruggered up good-n-proper. It’s already been done, bluddee red faces all around, and I’m not talking Boris. Now yoo lot have got me goin’ and I’ll have to fill out a form FC11127 all about your nefarious activities. Bluddee ‘el, what a caper. Btw: Jimmy Bond sounds good no?? My name is Bond, Jimmy Bond! Hermano Lobo
I watched On Her Majesty's Secret Service last night. I have not seen it since its release. Interesting. George Lazenby is a tough Bond( a tough man in real life as well), but he lacks charisma, a fine effort all the same. Action scenes, yet hardly any special effects and daft gadgets. Diana Rigg kept making me think I was watching a film version of The Avengers? The acting of Telly Savalas and Diana Rigg made the film for me. It may be the closest Bond film to the book. Closer than even Dr No or From Russia with Love As I have not seen the latest film Casino Royale I wonder if the latest Bond follows in the tradition of no daft gadgets and too many special effects ? Here are some interesting comments from the 1969 film :- On Her Majesty's Secret Service

I personally thought that Hugh Jackman would be good for the part (because I think he's gorgeous) oh and also a good actor.. But after seeing the latest bond movie, I dont think anyone else could have done it better than Daniel Craig.. Still would love to hear what others think.. so far mostly really positive reviews.. I actually like Hugh Jackman, but not sure about being bond. I Read somewher he is doing a "Wolverine" Movie. I hope they stay the course with more movies like this, James Bond that is. What is this like the 25th bond movie?? I'm not sure but I guess they did a revamping of the storyline and looks like they got a very good movie on their hands. I was a little weary about the last few Brosnan movies, OK Movies but not the best.
