Lite Beer
King appears to public at Siriraj Hospital pier BANGKOK, June 6 - His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on Tuesday afternoon proceeded to the Siriraj Hospital pier to view the performance testing of eight patrol vessels and royal boats on the Chao Phraya River. At about 3pm, the monarch appeared to the public with a happy face, sitting on a wheelchair and passing a large assemblage of well-wishers lining the way at Siriraj Hospital to catch a glimpse on him. They raised his portraits and chanted “Long Live the King”. This is the monarch’s second public appearance since he underwent a spinal tap operation on May 2. The treatment was satisfactory and the King can move more easily after the operation was performed to drain excessive cerebrospinal fluid, which may cause him to walk unsteadily, the Royal Household Bureau said last month. The 83-year-old monarch was admitted to Siriraj Hospital in September 2009 with fever, fatigue and a lung inflammation. King Bhumibol has recovered but has remained in hospital ever since, both for physical therapy and nourishment to regain his strength. rubl
Good health to His Majesty! I had my mother here last November, celebrating her 83rd birthday, my father two years ago. Both will be 84 this year. It's good to have them around. May we have His Majesty around as well, for many more years to come!
