No. But what exactly do you have? If a multi entry non immigrant O-A visa any entry gets a new one year permitted to stay stamp. If you are calling a non immigrant O visa retirement it is not but could be extended for one year retirement if you meet the financial conditions.

Not sure what you are talking about.

There is no such thing as a "Retirement Visa".

Do you mean a Non-Immigrant O-A Visa obtain from The Embassy in your home country?

If so, is it a single entry or a multiple entry?

If the latter, what is it's expiry date?

Or, do you mean an Extension of Stay for Retirement purposes?

what extensions you can get depends on what you actually have.

All extensions cost 1,900 baht, whether for 7 days or 365 days.

The O-A visa IS generally understood to be a RETIREMENT visa.

The O-A visa is also issued for purposes other than retirement:

i.e. 'Other-Annual'.

Surely, someone getting an annual (O-A) visa for 'other' purposes wouldn't expect to be told they have a Retirement Visa?

Since the qualifications for it are similar to a extension of stay for retirement one could understand why it would be called a retirement visa.

Everyone is always very quick to point out that there is no such thing as a retirement visa, however, Chiang Mai Immigration have a sign above one of the desks inside the office which clearly says "RETIREMENT VISA". That was the desk I went to for my "1 year retirement extension of stay". Obviously Immigration accept the term "Retirement Visa".

I am in the camp that feels retirement EXTENSIONS are not visas, no matter what sign they put up at immigration.

Again, the O-A IS a retirement visa.

The O-A visa is specifically issued for retirement (long stay) and the "A" indicates a one year extension of stay is approved. You do not obtain such a visa for any other reason.

Well, I think we answered his question. Yes, he can extend it for 90 days and it will cost 1900 baht.

Actually, the extension will be valid for 365 days and if he wants to leave Thailand before that extension expires, then he's just lost a portion of his extension fee. It isn't pro-rated, the way the Chiang Mai Labor Dept claims they can do for work permits.

So i can get a 90 day extension, is that only a one time deal ,the 90 day extention ?

Thank you all for your replys ,it gets a bit confusing this visa malrarky as the goal posts keep changing on the visa situation.

The goal post have not changed go back and read post 2. As stated earlier if you have a multiply do a border run and you have one year.

There are no 90 day extensions for any visa

You can get a 1 year extension of stay, every year again.

Yes, he can extend it for 90 days and it will cost 1900 baht.

Actually, the extension will be valid for 365 days

The extension of stay for retirement would be for one year but that could be used for a 90 day period (cost is the same and no restriction on leaving early) - but you would have to meet the financials.

There is no set 90 day extension for retirement as there is for a number of other categories.
