I wandering if its possible to get a multi ticket where i would start in Bangkok and fly back to London from Singapore. I know the requirement is to have proof of onward ticket but if you have a visa and show a ticket from a near by country would that be permissible?

Yes of course SA fly to Singapore and on to UK, MA fly to KL and on to UK. And visa versa !!

that would mean having to buy a ticket in england before setting out there, its all a bit complicated

If you have an open jaw ticket starting LHR-BKK and a SIN-LHR return ticket the airline should not give you any problem with boarding (though they may require you to sing a waiver not to hold them responsible for your return to LHR should you be denied entry to Thailand (assuming you are not going to get a visa first.)

If you have a visa (even a tourist visa) for Thailand no onward ticket is required.

Hi,

I have flowen in to Bangkok loads of times with no return or on-ward ticket. And have never been asked to show on-ward or return ticket.

It is a bit of an unwritten rule that on-ward travel or return ticket is not needed if you have a British passport.

Question ... did you have a visa?

The issue is not with the Thai side of things genereally, the issue is with airline regulations/policy.

Hi,

No visa, no return ticket. Check-in girl checked with her supervisor and was told (and I could hear) that British passport no problem.

thanks for your helpful suggestions. i think it's one of those grey areas where every answer is going to be different. i found that short flights are cheap enough.
