6 pm is evening.

I cannot really see the problem as this election has not suddenly been sprung upon us.

I went to 7-11 yesterday and got a dozen cans which are now cooling nicely in my fridge.

I still intend going to my usual bars and will drink orange, having been fortified with two or three beers first.

Also, I can always pop back for another if the need arises, but I doubt that it will. I have even considered taking a can wrapped in a carrier bag and slipping out to drinkn it, but this seems a bit desperate

The real impact of this, to me, silly ruling is upon unsuspecting holidaymakers who go out on the first night of their long-awaited holiday to find the place dry. I suppose they will have their mini-bars as consolation.

Ex-pats and us regulars need not go dry.
