I think you mean the first option - so what's wrong with pictures of tits? Every second person has them. :o

Go back to medical school ! :D

EVERY person has them (unless they've had one of those unfortunate operations).

It's just that the female ones are more attractive (well, to me any ways !)

ps: Where the h3ll is this Bear-Pit everyone is yapping about ?

B.O.T.

It's getting a little confusing in here. I thought it started out as a critique of people who turn topics (within a forum) into political rants.

Then it got into a list of ALL the POLITICAL topics within the FORUM (at least on the first page).

I agree that a topic (such as Tits or Rain) shouldn't be turned into a political discussion.

How ever, starting a NEW TOPIC that deals with matters of a political nature should be fair game.

I have no problem skipping over topics that don't interest me. I haven't seen anything in the Forum Rules that says you HAVE to read EVERY topic posted.

What are the other options ? A defined list of what kind of topics are allowed, subject to the personal whims of the mods ? That would work, for a VERY limited number of members.

I think one reason this board is so popular is that there is a wide selection of topics, almost something for everyone. Limiting the type of topics allowed would likely result in fewer members visiting or posting.

If you are upset at the number of politically-related topics in a forum, then start some new topics (like "Bums", the spankable ones, not the ones hanging out on Khao San road ! :D ) to balance things out.

Of course, there is always the "Ignore" option if you really object to what certain people post.

According to both 'Dictionary.com' and 'The Free Dictionary' (TFD.com) - not that I checked before my original post - a "tit" is vulgar slang for "a woman's breast". But you knew that anyway, didn't you. :o

As for the rest of your post above, I totally agree: "if you don't like it, ignore it". :D

I liked the cartoons a lot.

Otherwise, (in debate topics at least), posters should never assume that other people even read their written words, - let alone absorb them. For they are busy composing their next post, which is usually an extension and justification of their existing viewpoint.

In a sense, making voluminous posts is no more than a convenient way of clarifying and codifying one's own thoughts.

Really bored with all this Bush/Iraq claptrap

Who cares.

Definitely should have maybe a geopolitical forum buried somewhere, but really cant see the relevance to Thailand in all this stuff.

As we're in Bedlam, anything goes, as long as the core rules are not broken.

As moderators we sometimes face difficulties in how to handle bedlam, especially after coming in from the main forum, where we have to be quite strict and constantly clean up the crazy.

In here we sometimes make mistakes, especially when we forget to check our coats in at the door. Fortunately we have an area where we can discuss our mistakes and after we throw some internet custard pies at each other, we generally agree on a best course of action.

Yes, many of us are tired of bringing American politics into a Thailand based forum, but many of us have been here for years and sometimes we all need something more stimulating than 'another visa run' question to keep the juices flowing. Afterall, we came here with an interest in Thailand, that doesn't mean we are all borg and have no other thoughts or feelings (except maybe Yohan)

The Chill Out Room was created after Bluecat-gate, when it became aparant that a lot of us were addicted to TV but generally didn't have much more to add and just wanted to talk drivel - not in a bad way but it wasn't overly welcome.

Then Huski came up with the idea for Bedlam, or the VIP room, a place with no moderation (well, some moderation) after a slow start I think it's going pretty well, there's lots of crap that I love in here that would get binned in the main forum, therefore it serves its purpose well IMHO

I personally can't stomach durian in any form, but others die for it. Neither do I like American politics, but others do and that's perfectly ok with me.

I see another thread started by Boon or with 'Kerry' or 'Bush' in the title and all I do is make the same face I make in the supermarket when I walk past the durians. Every once in a while I'll read one of the threads to see if there was something wrong with me and if now, suddenly, I'll like the taste and smell of shitty fruit based political discussions.

Not yet, but I'll no doubt try again in 6 months.

On a personal level I agree with Daleyboys sentiments, but I will wrestle naked in oil with anyone who wants to moderate anything more than the core rules in Bedlam.

Fair words FTH and I do say so after having read all of your post.

Usually, my attention span is short, especially for lengthy political comments.

But than, for me, not being a US-citizen, it can be quite interesting to read opinions of others. Perhaps, only to see if I am crazy or others think the same.

The thing that puzzles me is all these Bush haters.

I mean how did he get elected?

He has no friends anywhere it seems ..well except Johnny Howard and and Tony Blair.

Well, I think it's appalling we have these booger-eatin' Moonbat Bush-Haters venting their respective spleens in Bedlam too! :o

To be perfectly frank, the political threads and hijackings; especially those by Boon Mee, sadden me greatly. BM's "Redneck" thread, originally posted in the "General" forum and then inexplicably moved by a mod to the "Jokes" forum (it wasn't one bit funny) was especially offensive.

In fact, the political slant to so many of the threads herein bothers me so much that I rarely read TV any more. And, when I do post, I immediately unsubscribe to the topic because I can't be bothered with the ignorance that follows.

The degradation of the quality of the threads here reminds me, sadly, of the demise of the old soc.culture.thai Usenet newsgroup. For years it was a great source of information, opinion and fun. Then it got hijacked by idiots and degenerated into a worthless cesspool of unadulterated cr*p.

I'm sorry to see TV headed the same way.

OK...just what is, or was so offensive for you regarding the Redneck Thread?

Some examples please... :o

I didn't read it properly is why it got sent to the Jokes Forum. Offensive or whatever they get rather tiresome after awhile which is one of the reasons Bedlam exists, it provides a filter to let people do basicly what they want without it disrupting the forum. While even as a card carrying conservative I find Boon's propagandizing repetitive and even somewhat embarrassing sometimes, so long as it's kept out of the main forum I don't mind, I just ignore most of it.

My advice would be to ignore what annoys you, and keep posting in the main forum where your input has always been very useful. Especially for those with Mac troubles :o

I could swear you posted it just a few days ago. Can't remember what thread though. I will have to snoop around to prove it. :D
