Thailand's national airline fully prepared to prevent bird flu

BANGKOK: -- THAI Airways International, Thailand's national airline, has stepped up its preparedness to prevent any incidence of bird flu on its flights, according to Somchainuk Engtrakul, director and acting president of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited.

In order to protect passengers from the virus, Mr. Somchainuk said that the preventive measures taken by THAI included having its pilots and cabin crew receive annual influenza vaccine injections while similar vaccinations against other infectious diseases are also provided for all flight crews and staff in order to prevent the contracting of or spread of any disease.

Mr. Somchainuk revealed that Thai Airlines had launched a campaign for "The Most Hygienic Cabin Environment," elevating the efficiency of all THAI cabin air filtration systems above current international standards.

THAI's "deep clean" procedure had been applied monthly in cleaning aircraft cabins, including thorough spraying of "Eco Tru 1453," a disease-killing disinfectant cleaner in every aircraft.

According to the THAI executive, the national airline's standards of cleanness at all locations are applied on a continuing basis. All locations and personnel, and all equipment connected with in-flight catering and meal servicing has been ensured to be hygienic.

This prevents any possible spread of disease infection among passengers, the THAI chief said.

Mr. Somchainuk also reaffirmed the safety of meals and beverages served in the national carrier's flights, saying the company has ordered its raw materials -- no matter whether vegetables, fruits, and meats -- from suppliers operating as "contract farmers" under the "Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)" campaign.

Isn't it amazing? Just when I thought there WAS no vaccine specific to the bird-flu virus (which hasn't yet even mutated to a form where humans can easily catch it from each other) anywhere in the world, Thai Airways has one that works! They should call the WHO!!!

Quite right.

Flu vaccinations are tailored and it will be 18months before there is ready supply

of ANY vaccine against Bird Flu, IF/WHEN it jumps the species barrier.

This is a load of marketing BS.

Probably mostly farmers that operate under the umbrella of the CP Group.
