Saddam Has Killed Fewer Iraqis Than Bush...

Featured Replies

During the Iran-Iraq war, there were an estimated ONE MILLION (military) casualties (600,000 Iranians, 400,000 Iraqis). There was an estimated 100,000 Iranians killed by Iraqi's use of Chemical and Biological weapons alone (not including civilian casualties in the areas around where the weapons were used).

Another site estimates the total casualties from that war at 1-2 MILLION, including civilians, and the (estimated) 100,000 (Iraqi) Kurds killed by Saddam's army.

In 1988, shortly after the Iran-Iraq war ended, Saddam's forces used nerve gas (Sarin) on Kurdish villages in Nothern Iraq, including Birjinni and Halabja. Well over 5,000 Kurds died in those attacks alone.

Let's rewind back to the senate hearings of 1992 and 1994, where it was proven that the US consciously provided Iraq with chemical and biological materials used to make weapons during the Iran-Iraq conflict, and even up until as late as 1992... AFTER it was publicly known that Saddam had gassed Kurds to death.

Got a link for this one? This sounds too good to be true.

When it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.

I love to see the link as well.

I love to see the link as well.

Not sure which link you were referring to, but here's some from the material I posted:

Chemical warfare in the Iran-Iraq War

That one mentions how the western powers helped Iraq develop the weapons in the first place, and never condemned Iraq for using them.

Another link regarding chemical weapon usage by Iraq, which also pegs the former USSR as a potential source of some of the materials:

Stockholm International Peace Research Institute Fact Sheet

Another Link !

Halabja poison gas attack

Iraqi Body Count.net

(I can't tell if these figures they show include ALL Iraqis killed, or just those killed by coalition forces)

Not it's not nonsense. How 100,000 dead Iraqis sound to you ? collateral damage ?

Keep watching Faux News, the sky is blue and it's a beautiful day outside  :o

Who's watching "Faux News" with rose coloured glasses on ?

According to Iraqi Body Count.org, there have been an estimated 26-30,000 Iraqi civilians killed so far (not 100,000), and that includes those killed by other Iraqi's !

So, lets see. 26-30,000 for "Bush" (and the 30+ other nations in the "coalition") compared to well over 1,000,000 for Saddam.

1,000,000 by Saddam ? :D

And the war is not over yet, those 100,000 dead will be a low estimate soon enough.

How many civilians were killed with those deliberate Baghdad bombing ? act of heroism or act of terrorism ?

Heroism!!! :D BTW - how much collateral damage was caused in other wars? This is small compared to other wars. As for low estimate - if you havent notice most of civilian deaths these days are being caused by those nutty terrorists and their suicide bombings. :D

I have a feeling if WWII were today - we'd all be speaking german. :D:D

So it's OK to attribute every Iraqi death to Bush, even to inflate the numbers dramatically without any evidence to support it, but it's not OK to attribute any deaths to Saddam, even when there are literally mountains of proof ?

In fact, I'm pretty sure that Saddam has more blood personally on his hands (i.e. he has actually murdered people in cold blood) than Bush does.

But I guess that doesn't count. Oh well, maybe John (Mr Flip-Flop) Kerry will come back in the next election. Then you can be proud again :o

Well, if Bush has killed more than Saddam its only because Bush put Saddam in jail and out of circulation....if Bush would let him out I'm sure he would catch up and pass Bush in no time at all.

No kidding. Could (can) you imagine what would happen if Saddam was able to successfully argue that the court didn't have jursidiction, and that he had immunity in any event as the President of Iraq (at the time all these atrocities happened) ?

Suddenly Saddam is back on the street, with a real hate on for anything to do with the West, and billions of oil dollars stashed away (remember that Russia and France were 2 of the biggest purchasers of Iraqi oil).

Hmmm, I wonder who his first target would be. The Western armies in Iraq ? Followed by the Shi-ites and Kurds, followed by the Israelis and the Europeans (excluding France of course). Then maybe some of his neighbours that he would blame for not helping him out in the "Mother of all Battles" ?

In an alternate universe in another dimension, a man called Saddam Hussein is still President of Iraq, his pragmatic, anti-fundamentalist stance praised by the USA, and is a bulwark in their likely war against the true enemy Iran.

I checked out swedish meatball's link about the US tranfer of WMD components to Iraq and it mentioned a Washington Post article, so I tracked it down and here is the link:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A...anguage=printer

Looks like President Bush was so certain that Saddam had WMD's because Ronnie (Regan) and Daddy helped put them there!!!!

Well, Boon Mee, I've tracked down a link that corroborates the fact that the US did in fact help Saddam develop his WMD arsenal....now its your turn to go find one. I suggest you look for something from the 1994 House Banking Committee hearings or the U.S. Commerce Department something about the documents leaked by the German newspaper die Tageszeitung. Start digging....I'm sure you'll find something.

A friend of mine from another country once said he felt sorry for me because I have Bush as a president. I responded, "Me? hel_l, I feel sorry for you. At least I'm not subject to his foreign policy."

:o
