Nok Air Adds Two New Routes

Nok Air adds two new routes

BANGKOK: -- Nok Air, a local low-cost airline, will open two new routes, Udon Thani-Chiang Mai and Bangkok-Nakhon Si Thammarat, later this month.

CEO Patee Sarasin said Thursday the airline expected Udon Thani to become a northeastern aviation hub.

The two new routes will be inaugurated on October 30.

Patee said the Nakhon Si Thammarat destination was part of the airline's domestic expansion of flights out of Bangkok. On July 23 of last year, Nok Air began flying from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Phuket and Udon Thani.

He said Nok Air would operate return Udon Thani-Chiang Mai flights twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays, while the Bangkok-Nakhon Si Thammarat route would be available four days a week, Monday to Thursday.

He said airfares for the two new routes would be very competitive. Passengers flying from October 30 to December 31 will pay Bt1,250 to Bt2,050 for a one-way ticket.

Nok Air provides flights five days a week from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, three days to Udon Thani, four days to Hat Yai and two days to Phuket.

The airline uses 150-seat Boeing 737-400 aircraft.

I reported about that 10 days ago already.... always ask the old grey WOLF first :o

Indeed. This is the perfect example of what I find so laughable about the overuse of hub in Thailand. Why can't Nok Air just add a flight between Chiang Mai and Udon Thani because they see a market for such a route... and then leave it at that. Why does Udon Thani have to be the hub of anything for this to be a good idea?

Because they built a new terminal, when all that was needed was a new gate :o
