Report Thailand Enforces Liveness Detection for SIM Card Registration
DTAC did the same when I registered my 1-year data SIM for my router. It's a cross-check of the "static image" of the passport registration system and makes sure their sales staff aren't doing dodgy SIM registrations on the side. It's not really a big deal to make sure both the phone company and the bank has the correct information. But I am sure as soon as either is blocked because someone can't be arsed to take a few minutes out of their life to do this, they'll be on this forum for hours bitching about it. -

During a routine patrol in the Khwae Noi forest watershed, forest rangers uncovered a mysterious cave, now poised to become a focal point for historical research. The three-day patrol, originally aimed at monitoring wildlife in the Phu Khat Wild Animal Protection Area, took an unexpected turn when rangers stumbled upon the cave, named Tham Ta Kueng. On August 18, Protection Area Chief Mongkol Khamsuk announced the find, which has captivated the attention of archaeologists and geologists eager to explore its potential secrets. The Department of National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) expressed their excitement in a Facebook post, calling it "good news for Thai archaeology" and heralding the opening of "a new dimension of research." The anticipation is palpable, as experts prepare to delve into studies of the site, hoping it will offer insights into Thailand's natural and cultural history. Located deep within the Na Bua subdistrict of Nakhon Thai district, Tham Ta Kueng's remote position adds to the intrigue. The site could contain prehistoric artefacts or geological wonders that enhance our understanding of the region's past. The DNP emphasised the importance of regular forest patrols not only for protecting fragile ecosystems but also for their potential to lead to significant discoveries. "Continuous patrols are crucial. They preserve the environment and, as this shows, can reveal discoveries of historical importance," officials stated. Khwae Noi forest, part of Phitsanulok’s vast northern wilderness, is already celebrated for its biodiversity and cultural heritage. With Tham Ta Kueng now uncovered, it may soon emerge as a hotspot for research and possibly tourism, drawing enthusiasts keen to explore its historical treasures. As experts prepare to examine the cave, there is growing speculation about what secrets it may conceal. From ancient artefacts to unexplored geological formations, the possibilities appear endless. Such discoveries could provide pivotal insights into the area’s past, enriching Thailand's archaeological narrative. For the time being, the cave remains untouched, protected by the dense jungle that surrounds it—a poignant reminder of the history waiting to be revealed within Thailand's forests. This find not only highlights the surprise potential of routine conservation efforts but also promises to deepen our understanding of the country's rich heritage. Just to clear up some nonsense presented in this report. Thais do help each other, every chance they get. I can't count how many mass bashings foreigners have received at the hands of big groups of Thai people in Pattaya, in street brawls often started by Security personnel. -

10 US States May Join Canada?
If I were to bet, I'd bet that the borders of the USA and Canada won't move. But if they did, it's more likely that Western Canada would become part of the USA. In the interest of being a good neighbor, I'd propose a swap of New England for Alberta and BC. And just to open up the road access to Alaska, I'd gladly swap upstate New York for The Yukon. -
